I have the JB with the latest FW and it does the same thing w/re to a scanned PDF that the JBL-16e does.

I believe the Grid option that extisted was just a short cut to different zoom levels. When "Text Flow" is turned off you can still zoom through the various levels and pan the document or you can use the menu/settings/zoomrate to jump to the desired zoom level. The size of the scroll bars give you an indication of how many times you may have to pan to view across the image.

The convenient "Short Cut" is gone but the "Zoom and Pan" is still there once you turn off "Text Reflow".

I have all of my PDF manuals for my electronic gadgets and Laptops as well as any other devices I am interested in stored on my ereaders. I find the JB and ALP excellent PDF viewers in a small screen format that can fit in your pocket.
