Came up with such a cool hack, but can't come up with an uninstaller for it, way to go!

Hey, porkupan, didn't you release some unicode font fixes when you originally released the jailbreak on the Russian site (I can pronounce the words, but I can't make sense of them)?

We got a working font substitution fix, which doesn't have to be fully uninstalled (just disabled) for OS upgrades. There is an uninstall package with this hack, of course (to fully deinstall it).

Google Translate may help with the instructions a little bit.

To disable the font substitution hack, the AUTO file in linkfonts folder needs to be renamed into something else, and the Kindle needs to be rebooted (restarted). Then the fonts in linkfonts directory may be replaced with some other custom fonts, the firmware can be upgraded, etc. To re-enable the font substitution, the AUTO needs to be renamed back to AUTO, and the Kindle needs to be restarted. That's pretty much the long and the short of it.

Alright, I'm having problems with this and I don't know why. I have 2.52. I installed the jailbreak and it "failed." I installed the screensaver hack, and it succeeded. I now have the SCREEN_SAVER directory in my System directory. I can delete default screens and they won't show up anymore. So far so good.

When I put new pics in the folder, they will not display. I tried making my own, following directions, 600x800, PNG, GIF, and JPG, none will work. I tried downloading screens that other people have made and claim to be successfully using, and they don't work either. When I go to put the Kindle to sleep, sliding the switch, it will sit there for a good 10 seconds or more, then go to a default author screen, if one is present. If not, it will just continue to display the page I was reading as the screensaver, though, of course, none of the controls will respond til I slide the switch again to wake it.

What am I doing wrong?

When you add a new screensaver, you need to restart the kindle before they show up!

No problems, I had to ask the same thing a few months ago. I had forgotten about having to do this until I did the most recent hack, and then remembered the restart thing. Love my own 'screensavers'.

Thanks for the hack. Worked great on my k2i Now with the screensaver hack on is there a forum on here anywhere that has some really good images to use for the kindle? Would like to check out what others are using. I did a search but I probably didn't do it correctly cause I couldn't find anything where people were showing the images they were using .

Just wonder what it will read if later have the font hack ?
