I've the starting thing corrected, but the libX11 patch isn't updating the screen. Apart of that, Ted is complaining of not finding some afm thing (I'll have to pack that too and make Ted find it). I'll try to fix it next week and then post another version.

Hopes up, it seems to be feasible :-D.

I've all the needed libraries. But, afted putting them in the lib dir, it complains about libgdk-pixbufloader-xpm.so. And if I put tha library too, it doesn't use it.

Apart of that, abiword exits because the gnome icons aren't installed.... quite a bit of work yet to do :-/.

But I think that in the end I'll have it sorted.

changing "on the fly" that would be quite difficult. I prefer to try to pursue it using an alternate method (one possibility is to open another connection to the X server and registering a class of "sh" in that other connection, and then forward the key events from one connection to the other...).

Anyway, until I have the refresh thing working I'll not pursue any other integration point. One thing at a time...

New version of the ted editor for the iliad... please, bear in mind the port isn't finished (it seems that it cannot open files yet), but the startup bug should be fixed and menus should work.

I've not tested it yet on my iliad, same caveats as for the previous version applies (it's factible to have to reset with the back-button the iliad after launching this program, it's very big, etc.).

And here is the file:

http://projects.mobileread.com/iliad...iad_0.2.tar.gz

Attached is the new version of the libx11 diff, and the script I used to "fix" the search directories on the executable.
Attached Files
File Type: txt libX11-patch-iliad_20061130-1.diff.txt (4.6 KB, 379 views)
File Type: txt local2datadir.sh.txt (59 Bytes, 389 views)

Ted

Ted does a lot more now!

I get the start-up screen with the picture etc.
The menus are there and it looks like you can select entries there.

"Quit" seems to work.
"Open" seems to work. I will try a RTF file now.

"Open" shows the directory. I made a sub-directory "My_Documents" and I put a RTF-file there, but I do not see it in the finder. The keyboard does not seem to work either.

The menus seem to work almost perfect though! Well done!

But if I try "New" nothing seems to happen, like Tribble writes hereafter.
"Minimize" seems dangerous at the moment.

Greetz,

Henk

Tribble or Scotty1024, could you produce a screen dump, to give an idea to the rest of the community of how it looks like?

I checked again. By pushing the "FILTER" button, I can see the *.rtf files in the directory. But after pushing the "OK" button, it changes it's color a few times. But nothing else seems to happen.
