Dead e-ink cells(pixels) would not be straight lines, but lines in the display could indicate at problem with the display controller. That too should be a warranty issue.

It sounds more like a screen problem; but I am not a tech.

We recently added another tech and she is learning very quickly. I think, very soon, things will be improved!!

Anyway, let them help you to solve the problem. Let me know if they are not prompt. Normally they are really good!
