In my workplace we still use PDP11s. Air Traffic control is a technological graveyard in this country.

I don't recall ever having had any univacs, at least not in my time there.

Wow! I did stuff on the PDP11 like write printer drivers in assembler. Probably around 1982. I thought they were surely all out of commission by the 90's. They belong in a museum.

I remember how those HP calculators were so well built also. I bet most of them from 1980 still work now - over 25yrs later!

There's a couple of people battery packs them on eBay. If you have the old one, it's pretty easy to "recore" with new AA ni-cads.

Guys! Don't get me started on the "Ghost of Past Junk". I'll calm myself and mention only one. It was called MacVision, it's basically a color video scanner. Took a good minute to scan, you had to keep your subject still for the duration, and in the same room as the computer, and it cost $450.00. That was before scanners and digital cameras.

@Cthulhu: Color will be here much faster than five years. They have LCD readers breathing down their necks.

Ha! When we packed up to move just recently, I found ALL THREE of my slide rules, still in perfect working order!

Oh, you want something with batteries... My Newton MP 2000 still works. I get about 2 weeks of life out of each set of 4 rechargeable AAs with normal use. (Which for me, used to include banging away at the keyboard for several hours each day, in addition to pen-based PDA stuff)
