Good to have your new company here, by the way. Best wishes. Neil
Best of luck from a perpetual quitter. I quit every year or so for 3-9 months. Then one wobbly night and I'm back in the gutter ...
It seem I can't even quit things properly !
By the way, there's a book I found very helpful when quitting: Easy Way by Allen Carr. I would find an older version he penned himself, as some of the newer ones try to flog their seminars a wee bit too much. The best thing about this book is that it starts by saying "Do not quit smoking until you've finished reading this book. Go ahead, light up!".
Another time acupuncture worked as well. I'm as sceptical as they come WTR alternative medicine, but this guy stuck a few needles in my ear and hand and made me positively sick whenever I lit up after that. Worked well for almost a year!

Thanks, M-reader. My sister in the UK sent over that book some time ago. It worked for her (she's never smoked since), but it made no impression at all on me. I'm on Day Two now, by the way, and the only time I've really wanted to light up is right now, simply because it's back in mind. I should avoid this thread, I guess. My wife has sussed out what I'm up to and hasn't said a word. Cheers. Neil

What an interesting life you lead, Neil. Your stories cracked me up, especially the motorized doc, haha

Did you know:
The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or the Americans.

On the other hand, the French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or the Americans.

The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or the Americans.

The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or the Americans.

Conclusion: Eat and drink whatever you like. It's speaking English that kills you.

Day 15 for me. I have the book but didn't read it...

Instead I'm taking Champix. They have a considerable number of unpleasant side effects, but I've stayed off the fags for two weeks! Good luck giving up.

LOLZ! I'm going to share that one with my husband. He NEVER tells the doc that he drinks or smokes. Recently the dentist was poking into his mouth and, seeing the stained teeth, said, "So, you're a smoker." And my husband boldly said, "No, I'm not."

Mate, whatever works. I found that every time I quit it's different. This time around, I've been a pain to be around - irritable, short tempered, nasty piece of work. Then again my wife claims not to have noticed any difference to my usual self
After a while it gets a bit better. Best is to ignore the whole thing. Don't count the days. Do something else. Binge on snacks if it helps temporarily. I'm sure it's better than smoking!
Back in Oz we have a good financial incentive to quit with the prices of smokes having gone up to 12-15$ per packet. In Saudi however, they are still under a dollar a packet ...

Is this the quote you were thinking of...
