Did you notice that the screen is not fixed on the left hand side? If you press the plastic case next to the page bar (on the right side of the page bar) you will hear the plastic moving up and down and hitting the glass. I think the construction should be more robust in all edges and maybe then there would be less problems with the screen.
The housing around the screen should always be fixed and feel like hard metal for such an expensive device. I am worried about this and although I think the page bar is a good idea, I would be more happy to live without the page bar if it would mean more fixed and robust housing. What is your view? |

to be honest:
the more i read about the iliad the less i want to buy it. and now this incident with the screen and the service of irex. after all i think i do not want to buy it anymore. from time to time i wonder if such firms do not want to sell anything. they should be watching this forum and they should somehow be fairer. i think they are loosing potential customers through the way they handle such stuff. because i will not be the only one that reads this posts. do you guys know if there is someone frome irex here in this forums? |

There are at least 2 iRex folks who post occasionally, can't really tell how often they just read, of course.

![]() I may need to take the fasteners out and Loctite them (http://www.loctiteproducts.com/produ...id=48&plid=695) to keep them from working loose again. However, I'm pretty positive iRex would be very upset if they got back an iLiad with Loctite on the fasteners. ![]() |

had this happen on my prs-505 when changing the battery
![]() yes i know that this isn't really fair as its not considered a user serviceable part but surely there should be additional padding behind the screen to give it a bit of support. needless to say i am upset to say the least. FWIW my unit had screen problems before of the "half the screen turns off before the other" type and the damage is on the same side. Thanks to the guy who sold me the semi broken mb's and screens, at least it revealed what had gone wrong. FWIW if you are *really really* careful you can dissect a broken screen and salvage the elastomer front by carefully peeling off the damaged backplane fragments. this behaves exactly the same as the esquire magazine except for the whole back being adjustable. 27V + finger = fingerprint "scanner" ![]() anyone got any broken screens? ![]() if the crack is near the bottom of the screen this seems to affect everything to the top and left past the crack, as the backplane drivers are in this area. I did also discover that if you are changing the battery its worth putting the unit on a semi hard (i.e. several dust free A4 sheets on ceramic desk) surface first as this reduces strain on the delicate backplane area. Not that it helped in my case as the screen was already damaged. just my $0.02 worth. -A |
