I do not agree with killing for the sake of killing but I do agree with dropping the atomic bomb and killing the ENTIRE group of people to support our cause. I support our troops--I pay taxes. I don't sabotage military bases or equipment, and am not openly hostile to military personnel, current or former, whom I meet in person. But supporting the troops doesn't mean approving of their choice of job, nor agreeing that the government (which I helped put in place) is doing the right thing with those troops.

And before you try to say that wiping out an entire civilization by nuking it isn't genocide, explain to me how those people would be any less dead than if they had been rounded up, household by household, and sent to gas chambers. Yes, I am. I also say the same thing about the deliberate firebombing of civilian populations by conventional weapons.

I'm not even an active member of this site any longer (and these kind of comments are largely part of why I'm not), but come on, surely if some irate member of the black-bar brigade can get sexual text cut from fiction in a post because of their NSFW complaints, this quote and the user can't be left unmoderated.

He's advocating GENOCIDE, surely that goes against everything this site supposedly stands for. He's calling for the murder of whole nations because of some amorphous 'cause'. That's not just against the rules of this site (and God I hope it is) but against the rules of humanity. It's not politics anymore when you're talking openly about murdering whole peoples, it's a dangerous psychosis that borders on mental illness.

What is it, does someone have to formally complain? Do I have to say this is NSFW before action is taken? Well here I am, complaining, this user and his 'politics' are NSFL - Not Safe For Life.

What's interesting in this discussion imo is the notion of double standards. That's really where all the division is.

One party seems to think that an american life is inherently much more valuable than other lives, thus endorsing pre-emptive strikes, torture, killing numerous innocents to obtain a goal whatever that is, as long as it is in US interests and so forth.

The other party view all life as equal.

I'd like to hear, why and how American lives are more important than Mexican, Venezuelan, German, Iranian...

I've no doubt that anybody with an ounce of humanity in them would see this maniac for what he is...a maniac (ill informed too, if he even knew half of the truth about the atomic bomb and why they were dropped he'd probably be surprised).

When I watched that footage I cried. I cried because I saw fellow human beings die. I cried because I witnessed the death of my own hope as young men laughed about the murders they committed and I know that those young men will one day bring that murder home with them. I cried because this is not 'out of the ordinary', this is happening every single bloody day and there will never be a good enough reason for it to happen, not in six months from now and not in a million years.

I cry now as I think again of the deaths of those people and my tears don't have a nationality, they do not have a flag to salute, they have no politics, no left or right, no rhetoric or soap box. My tears, like the tears of countless mothers and fathers, brothers, sisters and the relatives of the dead, are universal. A sombre music that unites all of us.

Please, for the love of all that is keeping me at least a little sane, will one of you moderators or the owner of this site delete my account.
