Frankly, if you use Win7 with UAC enabled and use IE8 or Firefox you are pretty safe. I've stopped using virus software ever since I got a virus with McAfee installed. Ok, it wasn't a virus, it was a trojan and it was IE6's fault.

Microsoft Security Essentials is free and really good too. It works with Windows XP and 7, probably Vista too. It has a small footprint and it does not interfere with other software as much as Norton, ZoneAlarm, etc. I highly recommend it.

I re-downloaded Stanza with Bonjour and now have no problems tranferring books to my ipod..

Calibre's content server no longer works for me.. It comes up with an error.

So... thanks for posting this question, ea. I made me want to look into other ways of getting my books onto my ipod. I like to be able to read a lot of different formats, and the ipod does that.
