Thanks, but it does the same thing as all the other PDF converters that I have tried - it inserts the page headers/footers into the text and makes it really annoying to read. I have spent time cleaning up my favourite ebooks that I re-read many times, but for a one-off read it isn't worth it!!
The issue of headers and footers can be completely circumvented if you use Adobe's Acrobat or Nuance PDF converter. Both are excellent but aren't free to use. Just crop the areas you like to convert (the main text, leaving out the headers/footers).

I like Adobe's output better than Nuance's, but the latter is value for money. I couldn't afford Acrobat, so I went for Nuance's product.

Thanks for the tip, Greenapple! I have requested a 30 day free trial of Nuance Professional and will give it a workout. For me the jetBook Lite's only shortcomings are its PDF limitations and Adobe Digital Editions (for library ebooks) -- so, that's not too short of perfection, huh?

It took me about 10 seconds of tweeking to solve this "problem". But seeing how you're not interested in taking a little wider step than usual to step over this stumbling block, I guess there's no point for me to tell you how to solve this problem.

I believe there are two kinds of people in this world: (1) those who sees a problem and complain about it and (2) those who sees a problem and solves it to make the world a better place. Speaking as techie, I rarely ever run into any of these annoying things that people keep complaining about. Most of these "problems" can be solved in less than 10 seconds if one is really willing to solve it.

I've spent months playing with literally more than a dozen software to figure out how to remove headers and footers automatically. I've also met many others who're having the same problem in various forums. It seems to be a perennial problem that even the mightly Calibre has no solution at the moment (though the wonderful programmer is working at it).

So far, as far as my experiences are concerned, the best solutions are Acrobat/Nuance/Nitro converters. On top of removing headers and footers, they also do a great job at preserving lines and paragraphs. Nitro frequently creates redundant line breaks, more often than Acrobat/Nuance. None is perfect, but they're very competent software.

If you could do it under 10 seconds with mobipocket creator, please share it with us. I'm sure many, I do mean many, people will appreciate it, myself included. Thanks.

Wow, where did THAT come from? I wasn't aware of complaining... just making an observation of what I experienced and what I had decided to about it (nothing) since there are a bazillion things I would rather be doing. I tried out Greenapple's suggestion and Nuance does indeed remove the headers and footers with the crop tool (thanks, green!)

But I guess these particular PDFs are not formatted very well to start with as I still have broken lines and strange spaces. Spent a half hour cleaning up the resulting file, but guess what? A good learning experience, but I'd rather be reading another book that's already nicely formatted.

For starter, could you post/link a pdf file that you think has the header/footer problem just to make sure we are talking about the same thing? As soon as I saw him say it, I found a pdf file I had with header and was able to take it out with a couple key strokes. May be you're talking about something else. Just post something.
