Considering the source of this Lbook firmware, I would imagine that FB2 and EPUB are where most of the serious work is going. CoolReader does not support LIT at all, so the LIT support must be something in the Jinke SDK?

Does fb2 support a table of contents? I see that it supports hyperlinks and footnotes, but is there a setting that will take me back to the TOC from within the book? ADE has go to catalog for this.

@Dave_S - Thanks for posting the link to this new firmware. It's nice have Coolbook 3 with English menus.

Someone who actually knows all about the Fiction Book 2.2 specification might be able to give you a good answer to that question, but I do know that CoolReader itself does build a TOC from chapter headings in a FB2 book. You have to use the 2 key to access the CoolReader TOC for an FB2 book. From there you have to enter the "page number" that CoolReader lists in it's TOC. I do not use ADE, but it sounds similar to what you said about ADE?

You are very welcome.
I just happened across this firmware build while following the CoolReader discussions at the-ebook.org

On mine I reprogrammed the book mark so it works on key 6 and then reprogrammed the goto page function to key 7 (since it replaces the TOC function). That way they are easier to remember and match the other tools. Don't forget to reprogram the set book mark as well. Use long 6 for one and regular 6 for the other as you prefer.

Does anyone know how to use custom fonts with that test Lbook firmware that comes with Cool Reader 3? I put the custom fonts (TrueType) in both the root of the SD card (in /fonts) and in /crengine/fonts, but Cool Reader 3 doesn't seem to pick up any of them. I can change the menu fonts though.

LIT is still very sluggish and subject to lock-ups so I would say no.

There's no way to tell because it locks the reader before it loads and yew have to do a RESET to get the reader going again.

Works absolutely perfect here.

Coolreader no longer uses /crengine for fonts, AFAIK only your custom CSS goes in there. I put all my Truetype fonts in the /fonts folder of my internal memory. I am not even sure that the fonts can be picked up from the SD, since I never saw anything like that mentioned on the CoolReader 3 thread at the-ebook.org where the developers and testers of this new CoolReader discuss the project. Has anybody following this thread got CoolReader to pick up fonts from the SD?

I have been wanting to try the much hated Comic Sans font, but I can't find an italic version of it to fill out the font set. At least not that don't have to pay $35.00 for...

Hmm I copied the folder to the internal memory and Cool Reader 3 is still not picking it up. I read somewhere that Cool Reader 2 requires Cyrillic support from the font set. Is this still true? Maybe it's why it doesn't see the fonts.

They need to be ttf fonts, otf fonts won't work.

All the truetype fonts I have placed in the "fonts" folder on the SD card are seen (I also routinely rename them). I have _never_ been able to get them to be seen on the internal memory, so make sure you're in the SD drive and not the IM drive. Don't bother using the crengine folder. Also, book font changes need to be done from within the book settings.

Are you sure that your fonts are named "something.ttf" and not "someting.TTF" ? Linux is case sensitive, and CoolReader expects lower case font file name extensions.

Unlike Sunspark, I have NEVER put font files on the SD card, and CoolReader picks them up just fine. BUT, I NEVER read from an SD card. I wonder if this difference indicates that the /fonts folder needs to be on whichever medium the book is being read from? IF that is true, then probably the /crengine folder needs to be used that way too.
