I realize that we are not supposed to talk about anti-DRM tactics (hmmm, wondering about the day when were are not allowed to think about them...), but in the Adobe case, does such talk violate Adobe's policies or the original publisher's? If it doesn't violate Adobe's policies, then there may be some gray legal area here, where you can talk about De-Drm tactics because you're not talking about a specific publisher. Right??

I am sure this Adobe problem with the iPad is related to the anti-Flash campaign by Apple.

So what's a consumer to do? Do I re-buy all my DRM content that I am now no longer able to read? Or am I now forced to go off doing illegal activities? Hasn't Adobe responded to this yet?

This isn't actually an adobe problem with the ipad at all, it has always been the case that the hardware makers are the ones that choose to add support for epubs with adobe drm (adobe just do the desktop clients for ereaders to connect to) and unfortunately apple being apple they have decided that annoying those people who have already got an ebook collection is worth it to lock-in the people that come to ebooks due to the ipad.

The stupid thing about apple not taking a similar approach to the nook by having their own drm, but supporting the adobe drm too is that the biggest winner will probably end up being amazon and the kindle since people are going to feel more secure going with them if they are being forced to switch formats anyway.

Overdrive is coming out with an App that will use Adept DRM for library eBooks. What we do not know yet is if we can load our own content with and/or without DRM. I do hope we can and I do hope this is going to be a a better ePub viewer then iBooks.

Did they say it's just for library books? I don't remember that.

While being the big library provider is something OD does they are also one of the big distributors of retail content to places like BoB can't imagine they wouldn't have the app work with purchased content since it's their main business.
