CO2 equivalent amount based on the amount of household electricity used for charging, and the distance traveled on a single charge.
(No CO2 is emitted during riding)
Reference: If a rider travels 1,000 km per year using an SPL series ‘eneloop bike’ in “Eco Charge Mode,” an annual savings of approximately 20 kg in CO2 emissions can be achieved, compared to the average CO2 emissions value for the type 1 motor vehicles of Japan’s main three manufacturers (SANYO calculation).
So we have an approximate idea now.

I don't see the problem in this. If one gets a hybrid bicycle and starts using the car less than surely this must be a win win situation both in health and environment.

It depends. It depends on what kind of climate/environmental impact generating the electricity causes.

Hybrid vehicles have a "hidden" environmental impact from both mining to get the rare-earth elements needed to create the batteries and in the disposal of those batteries when used up.

People have railed against nuclear power plants here in the U.S. for ages, but continue right along pumping coal-created CO2 into the atmosphere, probably a larger, longer term impact than figuring out how to store/dispose of nuclear waste....

I'm holding off on the hybrids til they are nuclear.

Yes, it's replacing the battery pack every few years that's the primary "running cost" of this type of vehicle. The actual charging costs are completely negligible - a few cents per charge.

Yes, I am quite low to the ground on the trike. Because of the congestion in this area of the United States, most of my riding is on sidewalks or forest preserves or trails. Oh, and I have one of those very attractive tall flags as well. Crossing the street at busy intersections, I get off and walk it.... creates a larger image to the big vehicles.

The recumbant trike is wonderful on the body. Great lumbar support, handlebars is actually below the seat so your hands are by your bottom. Because you are somewhat reclined, there is no pressure on your esophagus which is wonderful for me. The pedaling seems easier as well... straight out in front of you.
I will see if I can locate a photo of the trike....
