For those interested in landscape capability, especially for reading pdf documents, I left a message on their web site asking about the ability of Alex to display in the landscape mode. In less than a day I received a response that landscape capability would be available late in the year in the next generation (not clear if this would mean an update or a second system release). At least they were quick with this response and hopefully the capability will be timely as well.

3G sounds cool but I'm not sure if this is so important for the ebook readers

You can order NOW! $400 There's no demo of the product or actual screen shots (that you can see) of anything. Still don't know what the device is capable of because the user manual is a joke. What are you getting for the price? One page online store that took forever to go live.

No way, I think even $300 is too much since there is no 3G

Perhaps I'm missing something. How is this relevant to the Spring Design Alex?

Yeah, I'm watching Adam too and after this price shock from Alex I might start watching Adam more closely

i can't think of a way they could possibly sell it for $300 or less 3g or not. the parts alone must cost them close $200. its not like they are a huge company that can purchase in giant volumes.

But they can offer some dial for the people who will pre-order today, since the Alex shipping will start after April 14

The last order page doesn't work. This does not bode well.

Between the $399 price (why announce a price drop just to increase it?) and the unprofessionalism, I can't see myself buying this device. It looked like a great way to read blogs and news sites on an E-ink screen, and I like the thin and light form factor as opposed to a lot of the larger tablets coming out, but no way will I pick one up without a price drop and a lot of good reviews.

You know what would be great? A 6" Android e-reader with a Pixel Qi touchscreen. Like a smaller Notion Ink Adam, the size of a Sony PRS-505. That kind of trade paperback form factor would be a great tradeoff between portability and readability.

BTW, couple of days ago I asked Notion Ink if they have plans to make more compact Adam, for example 7" but haven't got an answer yet
