I didn't have any problem using I<3cabbages stuff to make them viewable on other devices. It won't work on a mac for now unless you also have a PC and some know-how.

What's your ratio of ePUB:PDB from B&N?
I have only bought one book from B&N and it was ePub.

The new firmware update looks great - some significant improvement in speed for page turns , the "reading now" function loads the most recent book/magazine almost instantly ... and the Nook seems to respond much better overall. The sorting of subscriptions also works well.

I definitely like how easier it is to use the smaller touch buttons now, I also like how the wallpaper selection menu works faster. Lets not forget the very attractive skin to the UI now, I wonder if this update is to accomodate the use of Android 2.0 firmware.

It is definitively snappier. I recently purchased an ebook from o'Reilly; it is rather large at 5Mb and, on 1.1.2, it was unreadable, it took me just over 1 hour to open the book. On 1.2, it opens in seconds - the way it should be.

really liking 1.2 as well, I like the new icons and grey background. Also pages changes going forward are much faster but going back while increased is about 1/2 of a second slower than forward, which is a little weird.

In that picture of the Nook, the text runs awfully close to the left and right edges of the screen for my tastes, and I note that text is right-justified. Is there a way to increase the margins, and to turn off justification? (These are standard features on the Palm and other versions of eReader.) Thanks!

The text on the image is justified with first-line indentation, a common style in books.

But this image is a photo composition, not a real photo. There is no status bar and also no progress bar.

The nook displays the book as intended by the publisher, just like a real book. If they didn't add margins, then there won't be any margins. The only way to change the margins (currently) is to edit the stylesheets.

One issue that is still common with the nook resides in the Daily section, where if it does not catch the signal at an exact moment, the documents which are sent wirelessly will duplicate, it's really bizarre.

Like I said, this usually happens if the connection isn't just right.

I went to B&N yesterday to check update out and I feel the page turns are still slow, plus they now flash weirdly.
Before they were whiting out, with slowly changing from spider thin to normal weight progression (something that bothered me on Sony 505 (not speed but visual change)), but now they seem to display double fat font (like overexposing of two pages) then whiteout then spider thin fonts fattening to normal size. Do you think it's some setting that employees set wrong after firmware update?
It kinda tires the eyes quick.

There is no such setting, the B&N employees could have done wrong.
I don't see the fattening and the other effects you describe. But maybe I'm already "conditioned" to eInk.

I'm reading here that since the 1.2 update people or reporting faster page turning, Since I did the update on mine to 1.2 the page turning is way slower it takes around 3 to 5 sec. for the page to turn. I also have a Kindle 2 and it turns pages allot faster, any idea's on what my problem could be.
Thanks.

Try rebooting your Nook again. It is really snappier.

I find the battery power makes a big difference in page turning speed. for me pages turn significantly faster with a fully charged battery compared to when the battery is at 20% or 30%.
