When I was still using lrf I actually used a hack to default all my lrf files to left justification (personal preference). |

Can you remember how to do that? I was not aware that LRF has left justification at all--it seems it always does full justification. For example, if I use "center" alignment for titles, and the title goes over more than one line, then it will be fully justified, which is not good.

Yes. Agree completely. I was just reading an epub book on my Sony 900 last night and it was fully justified and so annoying that I put the 900 away and began reading in on my 505 that did not fully justify it.

However, I have noticed a lot of variability in how lit/lrfs specify formatting--sometimes they use styles, sometimes it is inline with the tag etc. This makes fully automating the conversion rather difficult, as there are so many different potential cases to handle. Although I have some programs I have written to automate some of the reformatting for LRFs, I still normally have to manually edit the output to get it how I like it. A typical example: some books apply a different style to the first paragraph of a chapter, which when it is converted to LRF results in a blank line between it and the following paragraph. A lot of other books don't do this. At the moment I treat this as a special case that requires a manual edit. The problem you describe seems similar. |

It will mean ONE command to convert all books at once, and ONE copy operation to get them all on the reader. That's why I am going to stick with LRF until my reader gets a good support of EPUB, and possibly even then because I just don't expect some annoying things to change.

The only thing that bugs me about Calibre is that the version I downloaded six months ago works so darned perfectly for me (mille thanks to Kovid and members here who recommended his excellent programme) that I'm scared to update. Here's more Karma to ya. Hoots. Neil

The older versions do a much better job of lrf conversion so if that's important, i probably wouldn't upgrade.

Really? I can't say I have noticed any significant differences, and I have been using Calibre for over a year. I'm interested in what the older versions do better for lrf conversions.

I think he means the pre 0.6 versions. That's when Kovid changed the lrf engine (not sure).
