then of course there is the fact that sanitary "towel" is not in our vocabulary, it is all pad all the time unless of course you do have a tampon. probably one of the reasons why we didn't "get" what you were not "getting" Harry

My more genteel upbringing referred to these as 'napkins'.

even in the US where that is referred to, most women, and certainly girls would just blink at you if you talked about a sanitary napkin

TRUE STORY: Several years ago, at a K-Mart store where my wife was working at the time as a cashier, a gentleman came through the line and purchased a box of sanitary napkins. After paying for them, he said he wouldn’t need a bag. He then opened the box, took one out, and blew his nose.

I shudder to think what that fellow's wife might do with an iPad!

next true story... one of my very good freinds in Germany related a story about being a young bride new to the States. her husband had asked her to have a nice sit down dinner for several couples. she either didn't have enough napkins to match her table cloth, was upset with them or whatever. shopping in the commissary, using her limited english, she found an elegant box with a beautiful young woman on it, saying *something* "napkins". she was absolutely mortified when she got them home and opened them. fortunately she had set the table very early

I never said it would harm sales. Heck, Apple could have called it the "iMenstrual" and they'd still likely sell millions.

Well the reference isn't exactly hidden anyways.

Though it doesn't help that the iPad is white and "curved for comfort".

I blame the Wii for these shenanigans. Though I must say that associating a fantastic new "revolutionary" design concept isn't something most women really want associated with 7 days of pain and discomfort. I'm guessing there weren't any women in Apple's boardroom when they talked this out.
