Unhappy prs600 battery

I have had the prs600 since Christmas. In six weeks of use, the battery will not fully charge and lasts only about 2 hours per charge. I bought the external adapter ($29.95 + tax) hoping that it would improve the charge but it made no difference over charging through the USB port. The controls have become sluggish or only work after multiple tries which I attribute to the sluggish battery. You can use the reader when plugged into the adapter but this defeats the purpose of a portable device and does not improve the sluggishness of the controls.

I've had two 600s and both had less than expected battery charge longevity. I now own a 900 and use the included AC charger to charge the battery. I put the 900 into sleep mode at 3 bars and when I used it again 48 hours later it was down to 1 bar. I plugged in the charger for about 10 minutes and continued reading. After 10 minutes I unplugged the charger and the battery level showed 4 bars. There is no way the battery can charge that fast. So as someone pointed out earlier, this has to be a firmware issue and Sony needs to address it.

BTW: The iPod touch latest generation still has this same kind of firmware issue with battery levels. And I fully suspect the i[maxi]Pad to have the same issue.

That's awful. Have you requested a replacement?

You clearly have a faulty battery. Get it repaired!

I use my PRS-600 for a couple of hours a day, but most of that time is for annotating, which does drain the battery. I generally recharge once a week, at which point the battery is about a quarter full.
