I've actually purchased over 500 ebooks (yes, I know I'm a glutton ) and have not had any errors with the ebooks I've purchased (other than typical typos that you can find in any paperbook) other than the issue with Overdrive. Even the ebooks that I've preordered have been available on the day indicated. I have to agree with a previous poster that things seemed to have gone downhill since the Overdrive debacle. I would even take it one step further and say that they had already started to slide when FW bought ereader and started pushing their proprietary format. As for customer service, I've sent in questions on two separate occasions. Each time it took several days for them to respond. That's probably the poorest response I've ever received from an online vendor and I do a lot of shopping online. |

I don't think we've ever been fully informed. The contract between FW and Overdrive ceased to exist and any purchased ebooks that were stored on the Overdrive server became unavailable. FW tried to make up for it by making as many of the ebooks as possible down loadable in their ereader format, but I lost several ebooks because they weren't available in that format. Thankfully, I had back-ups on my system, but it still left me leary of any kind of drmed formats, even epub. If it could happen at FW, it can happen anywhere.

Oh yes, I remember now. Luckily it only affected one book for me, and that was one that I didn't like ("Cryptonomicon"), so it didn't stick in my mind.

I have had books, cd's and vinyl records where the cover was different from (at least part of) the content...At least in these cases they can become something of a collectors item.

Well, I purchased the latest Star Trek eBook from Fictionwise at the end of their sale and using the coupon. So I was happy with the price. I go to check it out today to convert it to ePub and find it's a different Star Trek eBook. Is this going to become the norm for them?
