Ever year I tell myself that I'm going to keep track of the books I've read, but I never do! I'm guessing that I've read about 80 books, as I average about 1-2 books a week, 3 if they are shorter reads. I commute a lot, so I get a lot of reading done on the bus, and I go through about 100-150 "reader" pages in bed before falling asleep, as well. My number does not include my manga / comics or academic reading.

O.K, my New Year's resolution for 2010 is to keep track of the books I've read...

Since I created an account at Goodreads in March, 55. #56 should be done in a few days.

71 books this year, which is a lot for me (I usually read around 50 novel-length books a year). Among these, 22 were ebooks and the other were paper books (since I got my cybook early this year, this looks like I read my usual number of paper books, plus 22 ebooks .
My favorite book this year was probably Middlesex, which was an ebook.

For those interested, I keep track of my reading on the French speaking site L'agora des livres, great place to hang out and read other people's books reviews.
I also keep track of my wishlist on librarything.com.

Middlesex was my favourite book of the year when I read it (I think it was about 3 years ago, I picked it up on a whim and ended up loving it), I don't think I re-read it this year, if I had it would be my favourite book of this year as well! I'm trying to decide what book I would choose as my favourite of 2009, but it's a tough choice...

I have a Goodreads account, actually, I have a couple of accounts on book sites, but I don't update them regularly and end up skipping over some of the books I've read... starting Jan 1st I'll will list all of my books! That's a resolution! I used to write books I've read in a journal, but I was never dedicated enough to do it consistently.

I track my books read in an excel spreadsheet by authors first name, authors last name, title month read and year read. It's easy to sort and search for specific authors and titles and to calculate number of books read for different time periods.

I lost track. I've kept a list up to 3 months ago. So I think I'm at or around 60 or so.

My business is 1/3 mile from my home...no commuting time there. I work at least 10 hours a day, and by the time I get home, get supper done, watched a little TV w/hubby, have fallen asleep in my chair, I don't really have very much reading time. I'm lucky to manage 20 minutes before bed. I guess I've read perhaps 4 books this year. Not very auspicious, I know, but I thought I'd add mine to the discussion. I envy you who read x number of books a week...long for the ability to do that. But, I don't envy you the commuting or waiting you do that allows you that 'luxury'. So, I'll be content with my lot & wait for my retirement when I can join your ranks (I know, you're not retired..but that's when I'll have the time)

I'm reading my 22nd book for the year (fiction). Unfortunately Uni takes up a lot of my enjoyable reading time, and after 4-5 hours of reading text books I hardly want to spend more time reading. I have a list of books I want to complete in 2010, so I'm going to go through one by one and knock them off.

Next year I'm going to keep track of what I read... and I will post it here...

I also don't get to read many books, I'm working full-time, studying part-time, nearly at retirement age, as well as having a selection of animals to look after...

It'll still be fun to see what happens in that department next year.

I'm truly in awe of some of these numbers. How do you do it? do you not watch TV at night? always have a book with you in the day? long commutes?

Long commutes, I always have a book with me (before I had my reader I always had 2 or 3 in my purse), and I don't watch much television. Also, I'm a pretty fast reader. I can't fall asleep without reading for about an hour, it's a habit I've had since childhood.

Soooo glad I started using Goodreads to track my reading! I'll finish book 161 today. There are a few audiobooks in that total. I've considered keeping a separate list of audiobooks, but a book is a book to me, no matter the format although I really prefer ebooks.

I use the same method. I register three more columns: aquisition date, price and scoring.
BTW, I've read 67 books this year.
