Problem with new PRS600 reader...please help!! - Page 3

If this works, you newbies can download books to a folder called "ebooks" you make on your desktop, and then plug in your reader. Then simply dragndrop your book from "ebooks" onto your reader icon in "my computer."

Both of these guys have the Library in, they are just trying to move books they bought over to their Reader. I mentioned that they should try and get some books on here and put them on their Reader, they should work.

They should try it your way first though, maybe that'll narrow down the problem.

I just had a similar problem...same error codes.

Sony PRS-600 (US)
Vista OS on Dell PC
Adobe Version 8

I had the Reader plugged in and on, logged into my Adobe account, went to Adobe Digital Editions download page, downloaded and when it finished, it authorized my reader and automatically transferred the books I bought 2 days ago...

Viola...success!!

Good catch on the Adobe ID. But you can download lrf or ePub from MobileRead for your Sony Reader. An Adobe ID isn't needed for ePubs from here.

Also if you use Calibre then you can convert any Mobipocket (prc) file from MobileRead to either lrf or epub for use on your reader.

Thanks to all, just talked with sony rep who said its an excessive traffic/server problem. We'll see, in the meantime I'll try some of the suggestions.

Goin and downloading adobe digitial edition fixed my errors. I was getting 2027,1106 and a continue error accured installing s/w. Funny thing was library and everything was up and working I just couldnt transfer books i bought to my reader. D/Ling the digitial edition fixed it all. Yooo-hooo thank you Jesus. Fixin to smash it. 300.00 piece of junk. It works great now. Merry Christmas

I got mine figured out! I downloaded the Adobe digital editions and had the reader plugged into the computer. it showed the reader. I clicked it and the ade program asked if i wanted to authorize the reader. I clicked ok and it ade authorized it. i was then able to drag the book i purchased in library over to my reader in ade and it worked...

This is the message I received from Sony today (haven't tried it yet) in answer to a problem report for the same problem:

1. Delete the Reader Library application.
2. Download the old version of the software (eBook library 3.0).
3. Install the old version.
4. Download one book from the Adobe digital edition free library (This book most be a
book with DRM protection).
5. Transfer that book to the Reader digital book using the old version.
6. You will get the following message: In order to transfer this ebook you must authorize
this book with adobe DRM.
7. Click Yes to complete the transfer process.
8. You can now download and install the Reader Library 3.1 software.

If this information does not resolve your issue, please contact us at (866) 962-7669.

Try the following:

Close Reader Library
Download Adobe Digital Editions
If it ask you for an adobe ID, enter the same one as the reader library, if you dont have an Adobe ID create one on adobe.com using the same email and password as the reader store
then close the adobe digital editions and open reader library

it worked for me

i updated my reader software to v3.1 n it was working jst fine untile yesterday .. im going back to the older version n will c wt happs .. but i really liked dixie's "shortcut" method

I had the exact same problem. Going to this address http://www.ebookmall.com/sony-reader/, installing the Adobe Digital Editions software, and doing the few other steps solved everything. It took about 90 seconds. That contrasts with the hour in line waiting for useless tech chat support. I don't think "Alyssa" or "Kristen" have a complete grasp of English, and are obviously using scripts (I received the precise same responses from each). Sony tech support had me uninstalling/reinstalling software on multiple computers, and was worse than useless. Then it was due to Norton 360. How hard is it to say, "It's a format issue, Sir, go to this address and you'll be all set before your hot tea grows tepid"?
