I use Georgia 22 at 100%, with wide margins; it yields clean, dark serif text with good whitespace balance. Turning the bar off gains me an extra line. Better yet, it removes an eye distraction.

I have the Hide function mapped to one of the wings (contents is the other) so I can toggle it on and off if I really want to see it. But since I want maximum immersion I prefer it off. (It's just me and the text stream.) For the same reason, I prefer the 4-way rocker ring for paging; all it takes is a bit extra pressure from the thumb.

Best ergonomics of any reader I've owned since my Jornada 6xx days.

FBReader on Pocketbook needs some work on RTF and DOC parsing (it loses formatting mid-block in large stretches of italic, for one) and it has issues with TOCs and pics on mobi files but other than that SFF's version is a solid reading environment.

fonts for the pocketbook

I've found 3 fonts which I especially like for the pocketbook which are attached OR you can see larger images if you click on them in my album here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/album.php?albumid=288

CENA was a TTF from my Windows Vista font directory.

Andika Basic and Charis were both from:
http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scrIpts/p...=FontDownloads

For anyone who does not know, simply copy your TTF fonts over to:

I love SIL's Gentium. I think is slightly better than Charis... have you tried it?

Yes I've also tried Gentium, Fontin and Droid - they're certainly all good font options but I don't personally enjoy them quite so much for reading.

Hmm oh dear ... just started up my PocketBook and it's all in German which unfortunately I cannot understand. Goodness knows what I did to it, I guess I must have pressed something last night

Does this device have a text to speech function? Someone implied in another thread that it did but I found nothing on the website about this.

Not the PocketBook 360 - it has no speaker or even a headphone jack.

I am not sure about the PocketBook 301 though which is the 6" device. Perhaps open a new thread and enquire?

The 301 has a headphone jack and a MP3 player. No TTS! Why not write one?

Are you sure you're not getting mixed up with the "Pocket Pro" - the Astak device? That does have TTS. The Pocketbook does not.

Hi Everyone:

I am really impressed with the level of knowledge of most of the Mobile Read forum members here. A few people could even earn the title “expert”. That is why I know this is the right place for finding answers. Why not share what you have learned by writing a review or article about the Pocketbook 301 & 360?

Our e-Reader page is looking for twenty more reviews on all the popular models so we could use your help. You can find reviews & more on the Kindle 2, Kindle DX, Nook, Sony Pocket, eSlick & Pocketbook 360: http://bit.ly/6fvuf1

Simply pop your micro SD card into the PB360, turn device on and connect to your PC with the USB lead.

Your PB should after a short while show up as a separate drive on yor PC and the micro SD card will show up as another drive. Simply copy your ebooks straight onto the micro SD drive.

I am lazy so I simply copy my entire Calibre folder straight over to the micro SD drive and my books are all sorted into author then book title folders.

Very easy, you don't need to authorise for DRM free ebooks.
