Hello.

I´ve visited the sony´s web, and I´ve a question:
is the 900 compatible with the "old" lrf sony format?

Can the owners tell us how show the new epub format? So bad like 600?

Thanks.

Many of you have mentioned the epub format and your intentions to use your reader to get library books. I come from a well-educated, pretty well-off city of over 200,000, and the epubs books they have available are for absolutely nothing I want to read (which would be modern fiction and non-fiction). The newest books I've seen are four or five years old.

Have you looked at your library's offerings of ebooks? Were you pleased with its selection?

Uh, squeaky, what in the world did your rant have to do with dontriston's question?

As to the 900 and lrf support. No, it does not support lrf and the whole Sony store is switching to ePub. I have a 600 and downloaded many free lrf and ePub versions of PD books and preferred the ePub. I can't quite nail it, but the lrf versions were formatted very strange, at least to my eyes. Now, the 900 supports full justification of ePub, whereas the 600 does not, at least for now.

According to the manual, the 900 /can/ read LRF, but it can't have any DRM.

Uh, chainring, if you read the original poster, there is mention of the public library. There are other mentions of the public library throughout this thread. So I'm wondering if people are checking out their public library's selections before they purchase something that they intend to use with their public library.

Rant? Really?

I apologize. I clicked into this thread with the direct link to page three and read your reply as that of a new one to dontriston, when it was in fact to a thread much longer. It now makes sense. Sorry!

Glad to hear it was a mistake (since I'm new on the board, your response jolted me). Not to worry.

As I'm trying to decide which ereader to buy, I guess I'll just ask my question in a new thread.

[QUOTE=Kolenka;705341]...

You do lose support for DRM'd BBeB (LRF) books though.

Looks like you'll lose support for DRM'd BBeB (LRF) books with new versions of the PRS-600 too.

I ordered a PRS-600 Christmas Eve and had delivery yesterday, and discovered it would not accept upload of DRM's BBeB books. I'm instead redirected to Sony's ebook store, which allowed me to upload ePub versions of books I previously purchsed, and no added cost. Non-DRM'd BBeB books upload fine if you use Internet Explorer rather than the Reader Library software.

I ordered the 900

I had the same question, as a matter of fact I already had the 600 in hand, but finally decided to return the 600 and wait for the 900 to arrive, since I bought it at Best Buy and they price matched it with their current sale, so it ultimately is not that much more expensive then the 600 was at first. As stated before, the 900 has a few nice options the 600 does not have.

But since you cannot purchase BBeB with DRM, it is not an issue.
