I have no experience with changing fonts and tampering with css, sorry.
However, I'm curious, what do you mean the reader is crashing? Mine has never crashed as long as I've had it. It does however take an awful lot of time reformatting some ebooks when you change the font size. Maybe it's just that you don't wait long enough for it to display the changed font size? It looks like it's frozen when it's doing it.

No, it actually turns off and then when I turn it on again, it has a startup screen and everything. I am going to load the epub onto the reader today to see what it does, but I really do prefer the LRF...if only it was not so tiny...

That's really strange. Did it do the same before the drm-removal?

In calibre you can change the base font size when converting from one format to the other. Maybe that will help?

I don't know about before. I had it on my Sony library but had not put it on the reader. I did just try again by loading the epub and not the LRF onto the reader. The font was still tiny but the zoom worked just fine and no problems. I guess I should not be trying to convert liberated files into other formats...

No, really, I've been converting a lot and never had any such problems. It was probably a one-off. Glad you could make it to work, anyway.
Have you tried changing the font size in the options in calibre while converting?
