Marcy, I am in the same boat. I just realized that my previous calculation did not take into account that some of my recent buys were magazine subscriptions where I am still owed two years worth of issues. So that's another 40 books I have already paid for. If you factor those in, I am down to about $3.25 per book as well.

Thanks a lot! Now my unread ebook 'pile' is starting to catch up to my unread pbook pile!

But how can one pass up such a sale? I bought a bunch during the 40% off and now they come back with something just a little bit better!

Well, I finally gave in. Why does everyone have to run sales in December? They need to show some mercy! I haven't even finished Christmas shopping!

Anyway I ended up placing 3 orders roughly as follows:

Order 1 - using the thoughts25 code for 8 secure fiction books
36.59 - Total
18.33 - *Rebate (Added to your Micropay account)
Used Paypal.

Order 2 - using my $10 renewal coupon from last month on a NYT book
8.50 - 1 * Kindred in Death [Secure Mobipocket] by J. D. Robb
8.50 - Total
8.50 - *Rebate (Added to your Micropay account)
Used Paypal.

Order 3 - back to the thoughts25 code on some multiformat books - 11 books
21.58 - Total
Paid out of my micropay balance here.

I must stop now.

Yay. I was able to whittle down my wish list. Of course, I also added lots of titles to it as well. But heh, I needed something there for the next sale.

I have so much in my to-read list (hard to say pile when they are all ebooks), I wasn't going to buy anything at Fictionwise for a while, but with 25% off (thoughts25 code until 12/15) on top of the 40%-70% off sale and getting micropay rebates when buying with micropay, I ending up going overboard and buying up all my favorite authors' secure editions after all. I've used up over 80% of my micropay balance on books that I thought I'd have to pay cash during the next 100% micropay sale.

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I'm a little confused with the FAQ info on the Fictionwise website.

I found some ebooks on Fictionwise I want to get -- some multiformat and some secure files with micropay rebates. I currently do not have any micropay on my account. If I buy secure ebooks (with micropay rebates) then the rebate amount/money goes into my micropay account, right?
Can I then do a separate transaction buying only multiformat ebooks and use my micropay rebate money to help pay for the multiformat ebooks? Or can I only use the money sitting in my micropay account on other secure ebooks (not multiformat)? I will be using a credit card (not paypal) for the purchases.

Does this make sense? Hope it does! Thanks for the help.

Yes. Do two transactions. First, but the secure books and then go back and use the credit to buy the multiformat books. I do this all the time. I buy 100% rebate books since you cannot get the rebate unless you pay wit credit card, and then I use the micropay to buy other things. I recently got two years worth of magazine subscriptions on micropay credit I had stashed this way

Micropay can be used for anything on Fictionwise. The restriction is that some offers (especially 100% rebate offers) are not available when using the micropay.

So use CC/Paypal for books you want with very high rebates that won't give the rebate if paid for with micropay, and then use the micropay for items that give a discount rather than a rebate (e.g. multi-format, although sometimes secure ebooks offer a smaller rebate even when paying with micropay).

The other restriction is that you can't split payment on a sale - either all credit or all CC. You can though, just uncheck one or more books, click update and pay with credit, then use paypal to get the remaining books (you want your purchase to be over $5, though, to avoid the 50 cent fee for small purchases).

So when you bought the book did it say CC only and then give you the rebate anyway or did the CC only notice disappear before you made the purchase?

The notice disappeared.

The next day, I was making several small purhases (using the credit from earlier ones to get remaining ones) and two books went from no CC required to requiring a CC for the rebate. Since it was two fairly inexpensive ones, I added them to a few 100% rebate books, so I didn't have to take a chance on the rebate not showing up.

How do you pay with a CC? I'm missing something obvious. The only payment options I see in the cart is Paypal or Micropay.

Go to View Cart.
Look at the bottom of the page, you'll see this:
"Ready to Check out?"

Choose "Check Out" to the RIGHT of the "OR," and then follow the directions.

Let me (or someone here) know if this helps, please.

HAPPY EBOOK HUNTING!
