Have been using the keyboard lock for a while now - no freezing at all. Battery life is quite acceptable if left with keyboard lock.

Mine is behaving itself now. Even when it was misbehaving and I had to do a forced power off, I never lost the current position in the .mobi books after power up. I do not use bookmarks (.mobi bookmarking is . well . . not useful) so cannot comment.

The fact that I do not know why it stopped freezing kind of gels with the fact that yours started ie there is some as yet not understood trigger for this.

All I can suggest is give a good overnight battery charge. That and starting to read a new .mobi book is the only thing I did before it "came good".

Hmmmm, not to doubt you, but are you certain it is fully charged?

Try the reset button on the back.

How long did you leave the battery out and unplugged? After reinserting the battery did you try a reset for about 10 seconds? If so then try plugging the unit into a charger and leaving it for a few minutes. Does the light blink to show charging? Press and hold the power button for several seconds. If none of this works call Astak.

I've been having the same trouble for over a week. CHarged for three days, pulled the battery, reformatted the SDHC card, reset the reset button, re-installed firmware. Usually the screen freezes or it can't be turned on or it can't be turned off. Then after a day or two (or three), one of these methods works for a couple hours. Then it freezes again. I called and e-mailed the Astak service number on Thursday the 7th, but there's been no response yet. Is it possible it could be a bad battery that takes a day or two to charge and then dies after an hour or two? WIth a frozen screen, all I have to go on is the battery/hard drive light. Both the orange and green light are on simultaneously. I'm really lost (and frustrated). I've had the EZreader for 5 weeks.

The reset button will not reset the PP by itself I have found. You need to press reset then press the power button for a reset to happen. ie a two step process.
