Once you get into extended-range instruments, it's basically up to you how you tune it; mine are a modified scorpionis (B-E-A-D-G-b), or standard tuning down a fourth...either way, the 4 middle strings are conventional tuning and if you're just holding the bottom-end there isn't much required in the way of acrobatics. In fact in many situations it makes transitions easier and saves me the trouble of having to jump all over the neck. As the fretboard gets wider, the radius of the neck gets flatter which takes some getting used to if you're accustomed to 150 degrees of neck profile.
And that just gave me a glassy eyed look, a longing for a mind numbing ZCD and a sincere wish to visit Adrian's for a while.

In other words, I have absolutley no idea whatsoever what that was about, but then, I'm tone-deaf and couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.

Don't be so hard on yourself; those qualifications could land you a recording contract in the States these days.

My only electric is an old Gibson Les Paul! I bought it used a lot of years ago, and had it worked over by the guys at StuMac. Love the range of sounds it can put out with the right strings! I'm really an acoustic player at heart but sometime just need to hear the mellow jazz sound that an LP and put out!
