Before anyone asks, it is San Angelo, Texas. Have fun with that.
Are you sure they were quoting you the price for the book? The lights are on clearance at all the targets around here for $32.48.

Just a word of advice. I stopped into my local Target a week ago and it was about $200. I figured I would wait until they dropped the price lower.

Stopped in today, they were marked down to $70, and they were all gone.

So my advice is, even if it's the high price, it might be worthwhile to get it in hopes they clearance it out. Maybe you can do a pricematch or something.

Also, I'd like to add, if anyone DOES want to pick up a reader at $70, I'll be more than happy to buy the reader off of you for more money to compensate you for your time and effort.

PM me if you are interested

I don't have a clue if she knew what I was talking about. I told her twice it was an ereader, model PRS505 from Sony. I don't know what she actually looked at. Could have been the lights. Like I said, I can't go, so it doesn't matter. Not worth it to drive 2 hours each way, especially when I feel so rotten.

But it does cheer me up slightly to think it probably was the wrong item she was looking at and I'm not missing out.

Always happy to cheer someone up.

Just thought it was funny that they quoted you the exact price I was seeing on the light wedges.

Yeah, that's the exact price for the lighted cover, on the clearance end cap. There is 505 within two hours drive - it's marked as discontinued, but at full price (gee, and they wonder why it isn't selling). The sales guy thought it was a light, too (no price was shown on or near it, either).

I called again, asking her to double check the price, because it was an almost $300 machine, but she insisted it was $32, half price. So, yeah, it would have had to be the light. I don't even know for sure they have the actual reader, except the Target site says they have 'limited availability'. If I lived there I would go in and have them scan it, just to see.

Anyone know anyone in San Angelo, Tx? No? me neither. Not anymore, anyway. Believe me, if I could get them at that price I would grab every one I could and offer them here on the board to the underprivileged (those who can't find any). *sigh*

I called three Raleigh Targets, and all three are sold out of the 505. Oh well.

GA Russell,

According to the list, Target in Apex is showing limited availability. Might be worth a ride.

The only Houston area store with a 505 left is just fifteen minutes away. So I threw my hoomin (with his credit card) in the car, raced over there, ran down to aisle F42 and there it was: the last new 505 in existence (aside from the display model) and it is marked CLEARANCE! but without a price. My heart pounding, I press the button nearby and a voice says that someone will be there to help me within 60 seconds. A minute or two go by and I press it again. Finally, just before I wet my pants, a lady comes by. I ask the price. She runs off to get a price checker thingie. She comes back and tries to point it at the sticker. By this time, I'm jumping up and down. She tries again. Then again. Then she reports that the CLEARANCE! price is.....

Spoiler:

$279.99

No, thank you. The book covers with lights marked $32.48 were next to it.

Drat!
