The Sony books had an extension of lrx, definitely not an epub.

So at this point neither maker is releasing books in ePub, that I have found.
Sounds like were all straight now.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I tried this link after it was posted but have not been able to get any of the links of this page to work. They all download "urllink.acsm" and pretend to open that in Adobe Digital Editions, but nothing ever shows up on my bookshelves. It's baffling.

Have you created an Adobe account and authorized your computer and reader?

Yes, I created an account and authorized my computer. I don't have a reader yet. It may be a Windows 7 problem. Has anyone else used ADE on Win7?

Sorry to be such a bother, but I was planning on buying something from fictionwise...until I realized most of their nonfictions are not multiformat.
They say on their website that for a sony e-reader you should only download something with the .lrf format, however, my niece wants the twilight books...which I notice are in the adobe format. She has a sony prs-600 just like I do, and I was under the impression that the prs-600 is capable of reading books in that format- after all, to check out books from the library, you have to use adobe digital editions. Am I wrong? Can you only buy .lrf from fictionwise?

Sorry to be such a pain!

No, Fictionwise sells multiple formats. And the Twilight books are to be had in 4 formats: Adobe, Mobipocket, eReader and Microsoft reader from what I can see.

The .lrf is just the Sony preferred format but you can read other formats as well.

The "Adobe" files that Fictionwise sell are PDF, not ePub. I would strongly advise you to buy the books in ePub format elsewhere.

It's a Dell Inspiron 11z, with an 11.6" screen, 500GB disk, and 4GB RAM, running 64-bit Windows 7, Home Premium Edition. I'm very pleased with it indeed. I've not yet found any software that doesn't run perfectly on it.

LRF,LRX is proprietary. Epub is an open standard. It will likely be the future shared open format.
