Didn't sony fixed the justify by now ?
![]() That's a need to have for me. I don't feel like reading a book otherwise. Once of the things a would like, is a corrrect ePub support. With justify, hyphenation, no page number, css fully implemented. No one seams to have gotten things to work perfectly. |

I don't have loyalty to a brand, but I do feel that any vendor having access to the files on your reader is a bad thing. So what is actually raw contempt for the Kindle may look like loyalty to Sony.

With electronic devices especially, I prefer to buy from a well-known brand.
That said, I also read a lot of reviews / feedback and have sometimes bought unheard of brands on the strength of glowing reviews and dismissed huge brands on terrible reviews. I like to look at all the options. |

Once I decide I want something, I'll then start to research it.
I quickly determined that the Kindle was not for me, as I can not afford to buy all my books. Sony is a bit more flexible, but still was running a proprietary format that I wasn't happy with. At the time I ended up buying, Jetbook had the best options, the most bang for my buck. So for now, I'm a jetbook fan, and a Loyal one. Right up to the day when someone else does everything my jetbook does, plus more, for less $. So brand loyal until the competition can clearly outperform it. When shopping around for my wifes ebook reader. (she got quite jealous of mine) I went through the whole process again. While this time there are a lot more options available. I still concluded that for my (my wifes) needs jetbook still leads the pack. However much will I think depend on WHAT you read, and where you expect to find it. I don't read current best sellers, or the latest mystery thrillers. So Jetbook is right up my alley. |

I shopped for "features", but not exactly hardware features. I've been purchasing books from Amazon.com since soon after they started (I just now looked it up, my first order was for three books on July 10, 1997!) and they've always had exceptionally good customer service. So once Amazon came out with the Kindle it was pretty certain that when/if I bought an ebook, it would be Amazon. The excellent experience of one of my best friends with his Kindle 1 closed the deal, and I ordered a Kindle 2 last month within an hour of when they dropped the price to $259.
Having said that, I'm also more than willing to buy other brands given a good reason....I'm actively looking for a Sony PRS-300 to take with me when traveling just for the small form factor! But travel is too limited a use for me to pay the $199 retail price, so I'm going to have to find a closeout or some sort of "deal" before I pull the trigger! Similarly, I was curious about the Nook, but the pre-release publicity hasn't shown me any advantage that would justify the purchase. But I'll always have some sort of Kindle, unless Amazon does something truly Jekyll/Hydish and totally alienates me. Last edited by The Hooded Claw; 11-14-2009 at 04:55 PM. |

I don't have brand loyalty for anything, but I do have brand antipathy based on bad behavior.
For example, HP, Compaq, Dell, & Gatway all index their windows install discs to the bios chip, which means you can not do an install if you have to replace the motherboard. I never so much as read the specs on their PCs. |
