As a noob to ebooks, the concept of getting news, dealing with DRM, vs non-DRM and what other technical jargon that go with the subject, isn't why I decided to go with an ebook.
1. Sure there was the geek factor.
2. I took a glance downstairs, the walls are lined with book shelves, an insufficient number... an ebook would shrink that to a handful of SD Cards
3. My wife's penchant for bringing along the weight of one of our children in reading material, at least my books would fit in my duffle bag when we went to Miss.
4. Being able to find books that aren't available in print form, unless I pay for twice the price in S&H of a book on eBay, or a book is only available in ebook form, as I found out with the final books written by Kenneth Bulmer, heck I didn't even know they existed
5. Minor bonus... I can play music with it while I read

A downside to eBooks... missing out on the artwork on a nice cover of the print version (if there is one, it's 16 shades of gray at best.)

Unless you live in a huge library, I doubt it would take anywhere near a handful of SD cards to hold all your books.

Yeah, you could probably fit The Library of Congress on a handful these days.

True. I have a 2 GB card, and with 741 books loaded, it still shows 1.1 GB free.

I figured a single card would have been sufficient, I would have more room for my wifes PC games

Wifey and I were briefly discussing which books to obtain in electronic form; we wended our way to which ones to keep:
Patrick OBrian - Aubrey and Maturin series, covers are pieces of art, we have duplicatres of some on our wall
Terry Pratchett - The kirby covers, again the art work
Alan Burt Akers aka Ken Bulmer, some Kirby covers and illustrations inside the books

I'm sure Celeste could name a few others
