It seems the "arrived in the UK" line was an error. It actually arrived in the UK at 7:52PM last night. But it's listed as being in Norwich and "Out for delivery" at 6:08AM this morning, so it should be here any time now...

Congrats!!

Mine is 'delayed in customs' in Copenhagen, so it won't be here until tomorrow

The DHL-tracker seems to have trouble keeping up with demand today, at least here in sweden. Too many Kindles ordered? :-)

Mine's arrived! Looks very nice. I like the cover, but I see what people mean about the attachment and opening "the wrong way" - the attachments are on the back cover, so opening the back cover puts the weigth of the kindle on the attachment points in a nasty way. I've added sticky velcro to help hold it in place as a temporary measure - I might just use souble-sided tape eventually, as the pad are quite thick.

I haven't tried buying or downloading anything yet - work calls!

It does look better than I'd expected, although it's a shame the keys are in a grid formation, and not offset like proper keyboards.

I love the text to speech - much better quality than I'd expected.

Yay! Mine has arrived too. One of my first tasks is going to be seeing whether I can register it with both a US and non-US account at Amazon.com.

Mine arrived :-)
So very relieved that Mac didn't announce the itablet yesterday.
First impressions, (just put it on charge, and going to play with it later) The proof will be in the usage. Need to get some chores done before proper play/examine.Seems small?
I dont know? I had imagined it bigger. Will have to wait and see. Shall compere it with my PRS 505 which screen broke last year.

Very excited

Congrats everyone!

Mine arrived as well. I was not here but had put a sign on the door to leave it at the shop next door...this worked nicely and I now have it lying nest to my keyboard waiting for the arrival of the first batch of content.
I'll transfer things by USB for now since I still have two books that I was reading on my Sony and now want to continue on the Kindle. I'm converting and transferring now...

Mine arrived today in central Switzerland. It costs $5 extra a week to get newspapers, but it will be worth it to have the New York Times again. Apart from the extra expense of the wireless connection (which will be invisible until I see my credit card bill), it is indistinguishable from using my K2 in the States.

Books from the Sony Store won't be so easy...I was reading unprotected epub files and those are easy to convert via calibre.

One interesting thing I noticed: I can use the integrated browser...I thought this was not supposed to be possible outside the US and Japan??? I only tried wikipedia so far, but I guess if that works everything works???

EDIT: While wikipedia seems to work mobileread does not, so I guess it is some kind of half-restricted thingy...

Glad that worked out for you, despite not following my advice about sick days.

Looking forward to your impressions. I've been converting and swapping back and forth between my 505 and the Kindle and to be totally honest I'm finding the experience of the kindle slightly better.
