I own quite a few PDF's...they're typically RPG material rather than novels, though.

Heck, some of them (like Starfire) are even designed for screen reading, have proper linking and so on.

Yes you are incorrect but I wish you where correct.
I own several PDF eBooks and all of them seem to have book dimensions to them. There is no standard size for them either.
Usually if the margins are removed the PDF is readable more so when page numbers and headers are cropped out.
