Cybook Opus -- First impressions - Page 3

I've only had it for five days... It has had a lot of memory traffic: I loaded all my books, then decided that I preferred to have them in folders. I erased them on the Opus, organized them in Calibre, and then reloaded them on the Opus... So usage condiitons have been abnormally intense. It has locked up once.

It isn't "perfect" for one-handed use... but it is quite satisfactory. Two hands is clearly one too many! Another Opus user, HarryT, thinks it is excellent for one-handed use.

There are in fact two splash screens that appear as the Opus opens. The second, which does indeed come up quite quickly, is a representation of the first page of the Library, so I suppose that once that second screen appears, the Opus is "on" and checking the Library.
What is important to me is the time it takes to actually start using the device.
Forty seconds may sound like a long time... but in fact it is quite acceptable.

I'm embarrassed! I went to a bit of trouble to get ahold of a 4 Go microSDHC. My wife had been using it in her camera, with a converter to full-size SD -- I bought my wife a 16 Go full-size, and she gave me the 4 Go... which has proven quite unnecessary!

The 1 Go central memory should be god for a couple thousand books...

Don't worry- happened to everybody! To be true, the inner memory should work faster. I suppose it's also a question of not being able to measure a book "at a glance" like one might do nowaday with music files.

And you have an excuse to fill those 4Go, now
