Does Calibre recognize the Astak Pocket Pro? - Page 3

There should be another drive: Since you had L for the SD card, it probably is K. That is where yo should find a file with squares (if Chinese language is not on your system).

Delete that one ONLY.

i have check the k drive but there is nothing there only l drive has content of sd card & m drive ask to format without showing me the content -- when i press to disconnect usb on my pc they put l:m driver together so my guess is that ppro is on driver m but i do not wish to press yes to format i think that will deffenetly not be good for the reader --

You shouldn't have to format it. Try taking the sd card out and see if a new drive shows up when you plug it in. If not you may have a conflict on your USB drive.

I know I have a problem on my work laptop with it not recognizing (or displaying) certain usb thumb drives. There might be something similar going on with your computer.

i did try removing the sd card & got the same drive again. not sure how to resolve this conflict i tried rebooting my pc but i get the same thing..... i will probably try it a a friends place to see if i can just removed that file ...aside from removing that file i do not use the internal memory at all i find that it is easier to put all the books on my 8gb card. thanks for your help it is realy appreciated....

Power OFF the PEz
When not connected to the computer and with the SD card removed,
Power on the PEz.
If the top line does not show just a "/" (and it should if you did not create folders), press the "Back button" until it does.
There were 5 files (really 3 folders and 2 files) on the list when shipped.
If you see the one with the odd characters, that is the one that needs to be deleted (we will get to that Later). This confirms that the built in file system is there.
There has been a few threads on USB2 problems.
I had to disable the Enhanced USB Host... in the device manager to get any connectivity.

Stop the USB device for the PEz. Disconnect the PEz.
(Properly STOP and Disconnect all USB storage devices before trying this)
Open the device manager, Go to the USB section. If you see: Intel enhanced USB2.0, right click and select Disable (Not Delete).
Attach the PEz and see what shows in Windows Explorer.

Good luck

BTW Remember to re-enable USB2.0 if you need to use USB2.0 to move large files (small files just take a little longer).

Thanks for this information. This really helps. Just got my EZ Pocket Pro today. But it still charging, I'm dying to play with it now and see how transfering my ebooks using calibre will go. Hopefully I wont encounter any probs.

What do you mean you "click EZ Reader as a BeBook Mini" ?

if you bring calibre up then plug your EZ PP in it should both pop up an USB drive on the computer -- and Calibre should recognize the PP as a BeBook Mini.

If you have added books to caliber then you can choose one of those books and click the Upload to Device button and it will copy that book to the PP.

You can also drag and drop books to the recognized drive in Windows.

Sorry, I mean I click the balloon that said it recognized as a BeBook Mini. I also have a lot of books ni Calbre already. I just need to send it to my device. I tried send to device and save to disk. But it both gave me an error that says error communicating with the device.

I did try the command too: calibre-debug -d

So I don't know why it's giving me errors.

Permission denied errors typically mean that you dont have permission to copy fils to the attached drive. Can you copy files to the bebook mini using windows explorer?

You mean like drag and drop? Yes I can copy files like that. I use my Calibre library and drag and drop the files. But I cant use calibre's desktop send to device or save to disk option if I connect my ebook reader like that. I guess this is alright....I hope I could use the desktop so I will know which of my files needs to be converted....I dont have to go thru it one by one.

Maybe try a complete uninstall and reinstall. What you are encountering doesn't make sense to me.
