I haven't purchased anywhere near all the books yet. I buy two back months and the current month each month so I will eventually get there. I have everything from this year to date, and all of 1999-2001 and about the first five or six months of 2002. Plus a scattering of months here and there throughout 2002-2008.

I'll buy a month if it has ebooks I've already got if the individual ebook prices of the ebooks I don't have is greater than the cost of the month otherwise I buy the ebooks I don't have separately.

I deliberately have not figured out how long it will take me to catchup to current.

I've finished all the books I've bought from Baen, except for the Hemry/Brackett collection and Chandler's Grimes collection.

Webscriptions is only four to six books a month...

But I do have a bit of a backlog from Fictionwise to enjoy before I buy many more ebooks.

+1

I own pretty much whatever Baen has offered that was not in with my Webscriptions. And I know I would be having to live on rice alone rather than rice and "baen's" if the Tor deal ever goes through.

I see seven books by Dietz. Try clicking on the "RESET FILTERS" link that's just above the text you quote.

I see his books when I click the link. If you've done a search previously, it's possible you still have something set in the filter that doesn't pull the books in. As pdurrant suggested, try resetting the filters and try again.

Baen is the best!

It's because of Baen that I got into ebooks. That first CD they included with "War of Honor" started everything for me.

Absolutely. I have quite a few Baen books in paper, and some of their ebook versions, but as much as I love their publishing policies, the product line available in ebooks is hit-or-miss for me. (I'm not much for military SF, which does leave out rather a large chunk of their line.) If only they'd convert the rest of their backlist-- C. Dale Brittain's Yurt series, for example.

In any case, here's to another decade--and more-- of Baen!

Try this:

Direct link to first Sam McCade book

It links directly to one of the books.

Heck yeah. I'd read more, if they'd publish it! Actually, there are a few things I skip, as they are not to my taste. But that's less than 1% of the books, so "YES!" is really the right answer to your question.

Of course, I finish all but the very longest books in one or two evenings, so their output represents waaaay less than 50% of my total reading...

Baen have an excellent system. $6 per book is excellent value. When the latest Starfist (non Baen) books are released, I have to fork out $30 for the privilege.

Okay, I think my brain has turned off this evening but I still can't really figure out the whole WebScription idea (just discovered it today). It says that you get four books a month but when I select a month, there are more than four books. Do you choose four of the six or seven shown? If I buy, for example, the August 2010 WebScription, do I get nothing until August? If so, why would I buy it now?

To add to the confusion, the March 2010 issue has four books that you get three-quarters of, but in February 2010 they don't mention you get half. Or do you? They also don't mention these books in the April 2010 issue. Do you never get more than 3/4? Why would they only have 3/4 of it on one month only? Why even mention 3/4 for one month only?

Like I said, I must be dense tonight because I just can't figure this out.

Here's the Baen webscriptions blurb:

Each novel will be published in three segments, one month apart, beginning 3 months before the actual publication date. Each month 4 books will be available. The intent is to use all Frontlist book for that month. If less than four books are published, or if one or more of them are unavailable, books from the backlist will be used.

For each month purchased, you will receive internet access to a directory containing four books.

Three months before publication subscribers receive the first half of all 4 books.

Two months before publication subscribers receive the third quarter of all 4 books.

One month before publication subscribers receive the last quarter, completing all 4 books.

and about two weeks after the last quarter is delivered, bookstores around the country will begin to stock these titles.

WebScriptions does not require subscribers to purchase every month offered. Purchase of an individual month will deliver that months complete books whether other months are purchased or not.

So if you purchase August 2010 you'll be able to download the first half of the 'to be published in August books' in May. In June you'll be able to get three quarters, and in July the full book. It allows the reader a serialised view of a book before it's published. I think I'm right in saying you also get the older books - those that came out in hardcover previously and are now coming out that month in paperback.
