Hmm.. I wonder if Iʻm a little relieved Iʻm not the only one with that problem.

I have had mine for a year now, and I have seen this problem probably 5-6 times. Itʻs annoying.

I also have seen it, once in a great while, randomly go back a chunk of pages when I hit the next page button. Anyone else see that occur? I might be on page 184 and hit the next page button, and Iʻm suddenly reading page 179 again.

When it resets, the same book/pages can be read and, immediately after a clean start, the memory's available...

(There have been cases reported in the past where it's been possible to create ePub's which always crash the reader, but AIUI, those cases have been found & trapped.)
I've had my 505 spontaneously re-boot perhaps a dozen times in just under a year, with daily usage. The common factor seems to be the accumulation of a large number of bookmarks and a lengthy reading history, at which point I suspect a memory refresh is required. I've found that bookmarks are not usually lost, but reading history is. Leaving the reader to snooze or explicitly turning it off does not seem to affect the frequency of occurrence.

Memory refresh? Do you mean format? Or something else?

Apologies, I was being lazy - I meant a requirement to re-organise memory so as to make a larger amount of contiguous space available by removing redundant contents and compacting the rest - equivalent to a defrag on disk.

That's something I never considered--although in my mother's case, she usually does lose the collection that's on her memory card. (The ones on the internal memory stay put. Go figure.)

We've come to the conclusion that yes, the reboot is a pain in the rear, but we can live with it as long as it doesn't do something drastic like die completely. *knocks on wood to prevent this from happening*
