I'm not sure how ready it is to order yet. On the info page linked above there are several issues. The image (is it a render or a picture?) looks silverish, but the product description says black. You click through to the order page and it says black or white. The product description says 166dpi for the screen, but I'm pretty sure all of these 5" screens are 200 dpi? Also, it doesn't say whether there is external memory or not.

I'm sure that you folks here could answer these questions, but if anyone has a line back to the company you might want to remind them to clean up their order page(s).

Well I was considering the Opus as compared to the Sony 300....but based on this thread...I think not.

What about the thought of a kindle to go with my 505? Seems the OP has both??

Not sure I want to support the proprietary ways that Amazon seems to be supporting....

I mainly got the K2 because there were a bunch of books I wanted that I could only get through Amazon and I figured the saving of the "$9.99" books would pay for it. They basically have, but more and more those books you couldn't get anywhere else are becoming available. Besides the 9.99 books Amazon isn't a whole lot cheaper (and is often a few cents more expensive) than Books On Board. I won't buy Topaz books from Amazon, only AZW (Mobi) books. I want them usable on other devices, like for a quick read on my phone and stuff.

I'm fine with my purchase of a K2. I actually sold my original 505 (bought in Oct. '07) and have bought another one when I saw a good deal on a used one here on the forum. Problem is they don't really work "together", I'd much prefer devices that all support the same format than one that does Mobi and one that does Epub.

Thanks Brian. I'm hoping to see that (combined reader formats) myself, but I'm not going to hold my breath It looking to me like the world is converging on Epub.

Maybe I'll just go for a Sony 300 (for the size) but (as per my other thread) I just had my 505 spontaneously restart itself last night (like in this thread I guess) which is a bit disconcerting.

I'm going to try a Pocket Pro for a smaller reader. It does ePub, but also does mobi/prc (non DRM).

According to the website, the color ones could ship any day and I just did the standard shipping, so not expecting to see it til next week some time.
