I did what you said. All went well until I received the same error message about the missing directory. Just before that Amarok seemed to download and install. There were 2 messages just before the error, "Setting up amarok-xine" and Setting up amarok". Now when I list the installed applications, amarok is listed but when I try and run it from there nothing happens. Tried rebooting the Q7 and now there is an amarok entry in the "Sound & Video" options. When I select it I get the message "Now starting Amarok" but nothing else happens. Better go back to your hiding place. ![]() Edit: Decided to start over. Reloaded firmware and in the process of doing everything again. Will advise when finished. UPDATE: It worked. So you can come out of hiding now. I now have 2 amarok entries in the Sound & Video menu. Amarok starts from either menu item and I've now played my first MP3 on the Q7! You have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me out and I appreciate your effort and patience. You deserve a holiday after all that, so off you go, have some fun. Great news, I too have 2 icons in my menu! It does take a while for it to load up but I reckon it's worth it. A tip on album artwork. It works either if the artwork is embedded in the track or if you put a jpeg of the cover into the album along with the tracks. I have set my music files up like this;
Root Of SD card = Folder 'Music' In 'Music' Folder = Folder with Artist Name e.g. 'Lady Gaga' In folder 'Lady Gaga' = Album Name 'The Fame' In Folder 'The Fame' = mp3 tracks from album + cover.jpg Somewhere in the options is a place where you can mark the Folder 'Music' (+ sub folders) where Amarok will check for changes i.e. new tracks added/deleted so that your list of available tracks is kept up to date. I do hope you do enjoy it after all that work, even so, you know more about your Q7 now, than you did when you started. |

FYI, Sonata is awesome.
![]() It is a client for mpd, which is an acronym for Music Player Daemon. What's awesome about it, besides its small size, is its elegance. It uses the right-button very effectively. Type 'mpd' in evilvte, then run Sonata. You'll have to point it to your music directory. mpd should have a config file in your user directory. But, you'll definitely have to learn more about how linux works to get the most from it. What's neat is that you can use Sonata to control mpd on another machine on your network. Basically, you can use it as a remote control if you want. Or just run mpd on the Q7 and use Sonata to control it. I use Sonata and mpd on all my laptops. m a r |
