Donnageddon has an extremely strong opinion on ABBA but he only shares those opinions on music blogs where he has no pang of guilt for jumping down the throat of the numbskull uber-cute pop fan and pulling out their appendix.

Have a nice day
That will never get old.

If only the poll had "Voulez Vous" as well, there is no way Zelda could not like that, it's in French!

In order for me to answer this question, I need to tell you a little story.

I'd like to take you back *cough* years, to my sophomore year of college. One of my good friends was in love with an 8th grader (oh, the horror!). He had flunked two years, so it was all ok. (He was the same age as her; we all know it's sort of like death to date a guy who is younger. I guess, in her head, flunking was ok, as long as he was old enough.) So, anyway, back to our story:

He dumped her, rather unceremoniously. She, in her utterly depressed state, resorted to listening to ABBA around the clock. Seriously, around the freakin' clock. She played it every single minute of the day, and if she wasn't playing it, she was singing it. Fernando, waterloo, Dancing queen (which inspired my new avatar caption), and some song about a boy with brown eyes? She sang and played these songs over and over and over again until they osmosis-ized their way into my head.

So, flash forward to our German final. I had always gotten As in German (well, in all my classes) up to that point. During the German final, she sat behind me and hummed ABBA songs the entire time. I did very poorly. And so I got an A- in German instead of my A. I blame her.

So now you know. I have a love/hate relationship with ABBA. They're very singable, but they ruined my German career.

Well, really, I don't have any strong opinions about ABBA one way or another. I just wanted to tell that story and blame her one more time.

Thank GOD the swedish music exports have improved so much since the days of Abba, Roxette and Ace of Base.

These days we actually produce some decent bands/music

In this case, GraceKrispy, there's only one option for you to vote for: GERMANY!
btw, we'd be happy to also see you in the German lounge

My, my, how can you resist them?

I grew up listening to my mum's old ABBA LP's on my granddad's old record player - I grew up listening to loadsa music but was one of the latest in my peer group to get into cassettes and then CD.

Then Dancing Queen was 'my' song when we went to Uni, coz I had left early and was only 17 during 1st year.

Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em (but then that shouldn't really be a surprise considering how shiny-glittery-sparkly all the costumes etc were!)

My (and my sister's) first album (cassette) was ABBA's Arrival. I recall me, my sister, my friend from across the road and his sister, pretending to be the band in our loungeroom. It's one of my earliest memories. I was always Björn, and I must say that I played a mean air-guitar for one so young.

Cheers,
Marc

I did vote GERMANY of course!! I have deep pride for the country I visited once and from whence my forefathers came. Half of them, anyway!

In the interest of full disclosure, I see I erred; I took German all through high school, not college. College was Norwegian (the other half of those forefathers!).

If I get brave enough to post on the German board, you mustn't laugh. At least not to my face. Penguin tears are not pretty!
