The iLiad is slower at page turns than the DR1000. The potential of WiFi was never fully exploited on the iLiad. Unless you have an application you know works via its WiFi connection don't assume it will work. For example, iRex never released a web browser for the iLiad. There is quite a bit of 3rd party software for the iLiad, but it has to be Linux software designed for very resource-poor devices. This tends to mean older software packages. Still functional, but not necessarily what you might expect if coming from the compute heavy desktop world.

The DR1000S has less 3rd party software, but it can typically support more modern and feature-rich software.

If the iLiad can do what you want, there are still very few real alternatives out there. Its nearest competitor probably is the DR1000S. One thing to be aware of is that the iLiad has no suspend mode, and takes ~45 seconds to boot. So given the ~12 hr battery life you should think about how you will use it. Will you leave it on all day and charge it overnight, or turn it off after each use and live with the long boot time.

hmmm

as shown in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QN2RIhviKEY
i thought the wifi is useful
i only want to update my news and feed on every free public wlan, which we have got many of them in vienna, thats all
oh and maybe surfing in my favorite forum

i suppose that i will reload the battery everyday while syncing my feeds

but i dont know if the iliad is the device i prefer, its only 100 euro more to the DR, so my main problem is that the DR is so heavy and that the iliad got so nice features, but the DR is faster and more practicable
so im asking you guys which one would be the best for me ^^

There is no right answer and only you can really make that decision I'm afraid. Both devices have pluses and minuses.
