Unfortunately, that is the way of it in most forums. I actually find less ugliness here than in other places I've visited.

You are all, generally friendly and kind, even to us newbies.

I've encountered a couple of posters who tend towards the arrogant in their comments. I try very hard just to ignore the negativity, even if it's directed at my posts in particular. If I feel like it's going to digress into something ugly, I just don't respond to them. I've been very happy here at MR and am always saddened when people who I see as kindred spirits no longer post here. mjh215 is one of them. I'm glad to see you are still with us DGma.

Oh, and Krisk, I definitely don't see you as unpleasant, just outspoken. There's nothing wrong with that!

Allow me to just jump around and scream that I love you and that I love the llounge!!!

Recently I have been aloud to leave it from time to time to wander around in the other sections, where I found plenty of useful information and nice people, but here, it's different.

Work is no excuse not to log on. Soccer may be one, though Yvan should try to get WiFi on the playfield.

Excellent idea, Patricia! I think from now on, when I see someone who I think is deserving of it, I'll do exactly that.

I checked those old boxes in the basement again and she's not there. The garage is clean/clear. The only place around here I haven't checked is the attic where the squirrels go in. Oops....

ok,this calls for another "when I was a young soldier in Germany" story...

a couple of my friends and I went to Paris for 10 days. it was a fantastic length of time to be there as we could all take in the sites very liesurely. sometimes we go places together, and others head off completely alone.

2 of the guys were very avid (and good, both were published in the "Outside" magazine several times) amateur photographers. one day the 4 of us were doing the walk along the Seine and they were taking pictures as we went. John (bless his nerdy soul) was king geek of geekdom, chief dork of dorkiness, just as awkward and ungraced as a 20 odd year old male could be. but he was a pretty damn fine photographer and had some chill equipment (back in the days before digital kids). he decided he wanted to take some tripod shots of us with Notre Dame in the background. he ligned our little motley crew up, fussed with his tripod, putting too much time on the timer as always and made us wait. a couple of dogs had dogged our steps most of the time, and one of them took a great deal of interest in John's bag. it became imminently apparent to 3 of us as to what was going to happen. "John! that dog is going to piss in your bag! John! JOHN!" and indeed the bag was christened.

poor John ran over and frantically began cleaning up his bag. right about then the 2 dogs decided that they were indeed in love and tied the knot right in front of the Grand Old Lady. I had been loaned a camera that I was taking color slides with that trip, and actually managed to catch them on film. I had always intended to have it blown up with the logo; "Love In Paris" but alas, it parted my company on some move.
