It is strippable and convertible. But, the HTML you get is dreadful and if there are any footnotes, you lose the links. Plus, there usually are no indents and then you have to fix that. Plus the line space between paragraphs need fixing. There's sometimes a lot of work to convert from eReader. It's a lot easier to convert from Mobipocket or MS Reader.

Don't forget, if the book has any pictures, the ereader version often has none or doesn't do them well (especially after conversion). Many times there is no cover on the ereader version, either, I've found.

It is convertable, I recommend you follow the steps ereader2ereader to strip the DRM.

However that post was written before calibre converted PML/eReader formats. As a result you don't have to re-create the eReader you can leave it as a PML file. If it has images zip it up. Calibre converts PML/eReader/zipped-pml.

So, if I have non-DRM ereader books, I can now use Calibre to convert them? I have a few and thought I was stuck in ereader format.

Yes as of v 0.6 calibre supports PDB conversion (includes Palm/eReader and a few others), it's a new features so there still is a few issues here and there. User_none did the port and did a fantastic job. He also has an excellent attitude about fixing new issues. In my expereince most of the eReader books convert just fine, but I have a few books that have given him fits. All issues that I have found are resolved in the coming version of 0.6.4

I'll give it a try. I'm thrilled they are getting the Kindle sync issues involved. Mine took so long, more than 1/2 hour (I killed it, usually, so I could disconnect the Kindle; most of the time it never synced), that I finally quit running Calibre when the Kindle was connected.

Hopefully I can convert those last few PDB's and won't be stuck with that reader anymore.
