Aww, I had an ear infection, but it wasn't super painful, just super super annoying. It's finally on its way out. Wishing you good health and...

In six years this has been going on - though this latest episode be by far the worst, there have been treatments with all the usual topical medication - most of which I have now become allergic to - but also trials with vinegar, manuka honey and seaweed !!

Ack! That's terrible, Geoff. I'm sorry you're still in pain. I wish I had something to prescribe that would make it better. Unfortunately, the only one I know involves a rather large gibbon, a soup spoon, a ball of twine, some WD-40, and twenty seven large balloons. I'm pretty sure you don't want to know what's involved.

My Maggie had chronic ear infections for some time, until eventually the scar tissue was so built up that, even if we could rectify any current infection, it would just as likely return very quickly. So, she had a double ear canal ablation and bulla osteotomy, and now she's no ear-holes at all. She's deaf, but she's happy.
I'm not suggesting this, Geoff. Merely noting that I have an onlooker's sympathy for the misery that ear infections can cause. (Note for those unfamiliar: Maggie is a dog) Cheers, Marc |

It is true that our bodies can synthesize most nutrients we need from vegetal matter, but when sick it is easier to get them faster from other sources, mainly eggs and meats. Vegetarian animals do it. Have a few omelets and a few steaks for a little while, just until you feel better. |

Did your docs culture some ear goo and see if it is bacterial, viral, or "other"? Because it doesn't sound like whatever antibiotic drops you are using are solving the problem.

From their Web page: Known as "the can with thousands of uses," WD-40® is truly one of the most versatile, multi-purpose problem solvers on the market! It protects metal from rust and corrosion, penetrates stuck parts, provides a great moisture barrier, and lubricates just about anything. WD-40 also specializes in the removal of all kinds of gunk. Need to clean off grease, grime, or gum? Adhesives from tape, labels, or stickers? WD-40 is the answer--there are literally thousands of uses! |

Can we move this discussion away from the combination WD-40 and ear infections, please? Every time I read it, I get this tingly feeling in my ears and want to run away.
So let's talk about what should have been subject of this thread that Geoff started: ![]() |
