I just use a regular USB cable. The reason for the one that came with the jetBook is that a standard USB jack is only rated for 500 milliamps, and the cable can plug into two jacks to double the rated amperage and reduce the time required for charging.

My computer is capable of supplying enough amperage to charge the jetBook, albeit more slowly, but I just leave it plugged in overnight, and have plenty of time to fully charge it.

The USB cable that came with the jetBook has 2 heads on the PC side, one is red. I assumed that the red one is for charging (or perhaps both?). In any case, I've never tried charging from my PC as the wall-adapter is faster.

yes, I agree that adapter is faster but I used USB cable several times too

i don't even use the jetbook cable, because i have a few devices already that use a mini usb for data and charge, a tablet, a game pad, mp3 player, and since i never have more than one of these plugged in at a time, i just need 1 wire.

Just got my jetbook. Came with firmware v0.30f, patch v12. How do I get the latest stable firmware? Also, I am assuming I can buy ebook from Sony Store and use it for reading in jetbook - though I do not have a Sony Reader. Can someone confirm? Thx.

Thanks Kris! I have read your reviews before buying jetbook - pretty useful posts.

Mine is white - got from newegg at 170$. I converted some of my online books in PDF to epub format using Calibre - works like a charm on jetbook. Do we have a jetbook forum yet on MobileRead?
