I wasn't being literal. I have an Oberon case, and I have dropped it on the train platform so hard it bounced. Works fine. I just need to be sure I fasten the case (which I always do, OCD helps in that respect (no disrespect intended to anyone that suffers from OCD))

You might say I am anal about not dropping my reader. But I do carry it around a lot in my shoulder bag and it's never had an issue at all. I do like the idea of a wrist strap like that used on the Nintendo Wii.

Who suffers? We excel!! OK, is here such a thing as self-inflicted OCD?

Just out of curiosity did you have the cover on it when you dropped it? From what height did it fall? What did it land on? Carpet, concrete, gravel? I'm just curious as to how fragile these things are.

It had the cover on, the one that came with it. I had it under my arm at a coffee shop, and it slipped while I was getting change, and fell from just above waist-high, absolutely flat (not onto a corner/side, and no bouncing), onto a concrete floor. Can't remember if it landed face-up or face-down; I didn't check immediately (was rushing to get my lunch & get out of the way of other customers), but I don't think it was likely to matter.

I dropped my prs-505 a bunch of times, with and without the cover on. A few times waist high landing on it´s corner and flat, the other times i´ve fallen asleep reading on my bed or on a couch and when i wake up it´s on the floor.

I´d say its about as fragile as a cell phone.

I once dropped my PDA, without cover from a bit over waist high on a stone floor. It fell on a corner of the device. Not one scratch.

You can have luck or unluck in things dropping. Sometimes you wonder how something didn't break and the next time it does even though it fell on pillows (for example...)

Yeah thats what i was trying to get across, just that its as fragile as any piece of handheld electronic, it might survive 1000 drops or break after 1 or after 7 or even if you never drop it.

Thats great that it was covered by warranty!

I would probably die if my jetbook broke! But if it did I would be able to justify to myself buying a pricer unit, lol.

It usually depends if it's still in warranty... just out: it will break, just in: it won't break, way out, 50/50....

Same here Actually, I bought my current PDA because the older one did have a problem with the battery. It was going flat. I could have replaced it (and it was replaced later), but I rather bought a new PDA

Call them and ask. Expect to take 20 minutes to get to a person who knows what you're talking about (sometimes it happens faster than that, but budget the extra time anyway).

From the couple of people I talked to, they didn't seem to care what caused the problem (whether I dropped it or it got bumped or it was defective); it was a simple enough fix that they considered it covered.
