I also HATE glare (and although I hate glare I did return my lightwedge/cover as it produceds the opposite - a blurred page). I have found the Mighty Bright light to be superior to others I have tried. It clips on, the one I have has a long, flexible neck and 2 light settings.

Thanks for your info, F1Wild, on the MightyBright ExtraFlex2 light. I see Amazon.com has one for $19 for the Kindle? $14 or so for the other. Aren't they the same thing?

I also see Barnes & Nobles are the only ones to carry it? I am going to look tomorrow at B&N thanks.

Did you have the $64 Sony light for the PRS-505 that you didn't like?

Thanks again!

No problem. I picked my light up at the local B&N as I wanted to see it in person before spending more cash (especially shipping charges).

The light I previously had was the Sony cover/lightwedge for a 505 (that I returned for the K2). I have an independent lightwedge that I have used for years (and years) for my books. I loved it, but found whatever they put on the Sony lightwedge made it alost impossible for me to see the print. I hear many others who have no problem with this.

Good luck with your light quest!

Hi, I picked up the $10.95 model of Mighty Brite Light that has only one light at B&N. I think it is going to be a winner here! One light seems to be sufficient. My only complaint is the clip makes the Sony PRS-505 get push up at the top. I like it flat. So I think I am going to pickup something at Staples like artboard or hard board of some sort and clip the light to that.

Any ideas? Does your Kindle get push up by the clip? If the clip was flat that wouldn't happen, but it is not.

Anyway, a small challenge.

I tried the itty bitty light years ago, now that was a bad product.

When I read in bed, I have the Kindle on the mattress and I lie on my tummy...the device and light, etc. must sink in a tiny bit as I don't notice it too much. I did check it and found that I only clip the end of the clip-part (does this make sense?) and not the whole thing so there isn't as much bulk under the K2. I guess after looking at it and thinking about it way, way more than I should then I can see a flat clip (like a flat-iron style) would be be a wee bit better. The one light is probably sufficient also. For some reason I always use the lower of the 2 settings - maybe I think I am saving energy?

Glad it's working for you!

I tried what you said, clipping just the edge of the Sony ebook holder and my case holder is obviously not as strong as your Kindle case holder. This is floppy and can't do that. So I have to put the clip on the whole way. I have decided it will be okay to use this way.

I found a way to diffuse the light to my liking. I put a nylon knee high stocking over the light. Sounds funny, but it really is pleasing to my eyes now. It lights up my book, it doesn't overshoot light now. If that makes sense.

So I am happy reading now.

Sorry you have to full-on clip. Mine was pretty secure (even on my Sony), but then I was in bed. I think it;s great and very creative of you to use your knee high as a light diffuser. If only the industry knew what we used those silly things for (other than on our feet & legs) they would begin to charge us $10/pair.

Just be sure to be on the lookout (or smellout) for burning nylon.

LOL

I could write a book on what I use nylons for. The last time I used a nylon was to put over the end of the vacuum hose to "vacuum out" a baby cottontail, and numerous lizards out of a hole that was for a water softener deep in the ground. We saved many of animals before we finally covered the hole! The nylon sucked (and the vacuum) the animal up out of the hole, but he stayed on the end of the vacuum until it was safely out of the hole and we turned the vacuum off. Then the freed animal ran away! What a wild ride they had. I wonder if anyone else used a nylon for that? LOL.

Great idea. My best use for nylons was when my sis got married. On the day of her wedding she put on her gown and found she was spilling out of the top of it - not horribly, but enough to make her uncomfortable. I took spare nylons that matched her skin tone and sewed a very small piece of the nylon onto the bodice. It kept her feeling more secure yet was never detected with the lace, etc.

That was a new use of a nylon I never would have thought of. I use nylons as plant ties too, so it can stretch as a plant grows.

I bought a 6x9" clipboard and now I clip the light to that. That way When I read at night I just get the clipboard out and I am all setup. Instead of clipping and unclipping the light to my Sony case, which was getting damaged from the clip and was wobbly. Cheap fix.

OK, instead of clogging a booklight thread, let's start the book (to be later published as an ebook) on the 1001 ways to make use of a pair of pantyhose.

BTW, good use #3!

Has anyone tried this light? Full spectrum ccfl light

It looks just like a rebrand of this light.

Based on the URL that the link went to, she had typed in "travel booklight" as a search on that site. I did that myself, and came up with two different lights:

Microbeam Booklight
Rechargeable Booklight

It had to have been either one of those, or a 3rd one that's no longer sold on the site...

I use a miniature miners lamp which has elastic straps to secure it to my head and offers 3 levels of brightness. Yes it looks silly, but it works. My son bought it from Tesco (equivalent'ish to Wal Mart?) about two years ago as a christmas stocking-filler. Great thing is, where I look, there is light!
