Thanks for the response. I'm running the newest Mac OS (10.5.7), so there shouldn't be an incompatibility there (if I read your first sentence correctly).
All my books are on internal memory. I should be able to load them on an SD card in a couple of days as I don't have my Cybook on me right now. I'll get back to you on that. I'm just hoping that if Bookeen ever releases the new firmware it will fix this issue. I don't need folders and everything, I just want it bug free. It's a great device otherwise. |

Email already sent. I guess we'll see what their turn-around time is if nothing else...

And on the Mac side it's not a hardware bug because I tried it with both my iBook G4 with 10.4 and 10.5 (before it died in my hands ![]() (sorry for the long post) * Seem to be true only with 400Mhz or build 8xx versions of the Gen3 |

I always remove the device safely, and I've tried formating internal memory too. I will email bookeen too, so they have more than one customer claim with that issue. Bye! |

These are saved, so when the book is open at the old page, I search for the last bookmark. Not the best, but at least lot of time saved this way ! ![]() BTW, my Cybook is a s3c2440 400 MHz, Boo 1.2 build 820, Mobi 6.0 build 70 |

My reply to this (to try to get a date out of them): Thank you for the prompt response. I'm glad to know that this problem is being worked on, and while I have faith that you will fix it, the problem is such that my reader is unpleasant to use. I have no confidence when I'm reading whether it will crash or not and my reading experience is becoming worse because of it. While I do read your newsletter, I had heard the firmware would be released in the first quarter of 2009. Since I'm involved in software development in my job, I know that it's nearly impossible to accurately predict timelines, but any general idea of when I could expect this firmware fix would be greatly appreciated. |

I'm not sure if this is a related issue but a couple of days ago I downloaded a free ebook in prc format and the Cybook just refuses to recognise where I left off.
The CyBook boots up into the library at the previous book I was reading. All information concerning the current book is lost! I use linux ubuntu for 95% of things these days - I'm not sure what the equivalent to chkdsk is... and it's a different filing system anyway. Update: I had to resort to going to Windows, right-clicking the drive in Explorer and under the Tools option, chose to repair the disc. This did the trick but also removed the offending file and several more which were possibly damaged. The cause for this is almost certainly unplugging the CyBook without properly unmounting it first. The CyBook, when unmounted in Windows or Linux, still shows "connected" on the screen so it is difficult to know if it is or isn't! Also, my pc will not boot up if the CyBook is plugged in and switched on... Last edited by Kino; 05-26-2009 at 09:33 AM. |

non-permanent Bookmarks
My wife got the same problems on her Cybook Gen3 and we wrote to Bookeen's support address and got this answer:
###### Question ####### Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2009 9:11 PM To: Bookeen Support Subject: Problem with Cybook Gen3 Dear Sirs I bought my Cybook Gen3 on May 1st, 2009 at www.bol.de Model No. CYBGEN310B S/N: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (changed here for security reasons) Unfortunately I cannot use the bookmark function any more. Neither setting a new bookmark nor deleting an existing one. I tried to fix the problem by installing the current firmware from your server. But unfortunately a firmware update is also not possible. Just nothing happens when I follow the procedure other than a reboot of the device. The library view can be changed from 5 to 10 or 20 per page or vice versa. But after switch off it always returns to 10 per page. I have no explanation for this all. Please help! What can I do? I like my device and I neeeeeeed it! With kind regards xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ###### RESPONSE ###### Sir/Madam, The firmware version available on the website is not compatible with your Cybook's version. In order to resolve the issues you are currently encountering with the Cybook, we invite you to reformat the Cybook. Right click on the Cybook Gen3 driver while this one is being connected. Best regards, Bookeen Support Team Bookeen - www.bookeen.com Ubibooks - www.ubibooks.com ######## ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION ########### Actually we analyzed a file system inconsistency problem prior to Bookeen's response and fixed it by renaming the current ebook folder on the device to another name; then we created a new ebook folder and copied all sane files to the new folder; after that we deleted the renamed insane ebook folder. After a reboot the device went well again. Have fun gwitt Last edited by gwitt; 06-20-2009 at 06:30 AM. Reason: corrected |
