Duh, I am so duned...., meant the TV thing (which seemed just a bit better, but I've never really seen through.)

yep, but I was giving my interpretation as to why stylistically they did Troopers that way. I could be all wet, I usually am... but it works for me!

Gotcha - wasn't thinking straight

I can, I think, see why they did it like that. But... it just didn't work for me.

What's really annoying me is that there's one that I usually trot out in this sort of conversation, and i can't remember what it is!!

Personally, I preferred the movie to the series - but neither came close to the radio original.

Dune, Clan of the Cavebear

Don't want to see Hitchhiker's Guide (afraid it will let me down), Crusade in Jeans (same), Winter in Wartime (same)...

I generally don't like movie remakes of a book, they are always disappointing. Some more than others, but I've not really seen one movie where I say: yes, excellently done!

Really? You didn't think the LOTR movies were excellently done?

They were brilliant - apart from can-it-get-more-annoying Liv Taylor. Really .. the love story between Aragorn and Arwen is bad enough as it is, it really does not need more time.

Oh, they were awesome movies. By themselves. Do I think they honour the books? No. Some parts are always overblown as people seem to expect them (love stories), other parts are forgotten or at least became a minor part of the movie (while I think they are important parts of the story).

At least they didn't try to put it all in one movie...

(I can only think of one mini-series that I really love that is based on a book, and that is Shogun)
