I am not 100% sure, but I do think that only Mobipocket supports DRM. But even still that puts it one up from the Jetbook and the BeBook does support a lot more non-DRM formats.

The comparison of the Jetbook to the 505 and K1 contained a lot of incorrect information and out and out lies. Saying the Jetbook is the most versatile reader is yet another lie. The BeBook can make that claim and has the firmware to back it up.

As I remember BeBook is Netherlands company and they don't sell it in US.

I have a whole pocket in my purse full of BB&B coupons! Our (somewhat) local store lets you use as many coupons as you have items for, even if they're expired!

I can't wait to see the Jetbook in person! That's what they need to be doing-- getting those eBook readers out in the public retail outlets where they can get the real hands-on experience and fall in love

The Jetbook is being touted as the WORLD'S most versatile eBook reader. Not just the USA.

Plus, the website will let me purchase a BeBook if I so desire and I am in the US.

Well, BeBook and all the other Hanlin clones. mobi and prc are the same formats so shouldn't really be listed separately but they also support PDB (PalmDOC) which is another format. Mobi is the only DRM format supported. MBP is not a eBook reader format but the meta-data for mobi/prc.

I'm with you there. If I was ever considering their ebook reader, I'm not now. I see the link with selling ereaders in book stores and I can make the link for selling them in electronics stores, but selling the device in a BB&B indicates its second rate and instead of penetrating the two logical brick and mortar outlets, it can only achieve retail penetration in some wonky unrelated retail environment.

I think placing their product in those stores will damage their image and not improve their sales.

Just my opinion, I have no facts beyond my visceral reaction to reading the announcement. Didn't mean to offend anyone, and don't know enough about this particular device to know much about it, but in my mind, the jetbook will always now be immediately thought of as a joke and not a serious, state-of-the-art ebook reader. Maybe I'll overcome it by coming to MobileRead to learn about this device's capabilities, but a lot of folks won't ever come to MobileRead to learn if their initial reaction was wrong or not.

I can't agree with it. Why Sony can sell ebook readers in Target stores but
jetBook can't sell it in BB&B stores? The main point that many people can test it before purchase (they can't do it online when buy Kindle or other eBook readers available online only)

probably for you it would be a joke or second rated reader, but I think that they just try to bring the product to the part of customers who is far away from high technology, but still likes to read a lot I mean housewives and so on.
as for me, I tried Sony 505 in Target and Jetbook in BB&B and to be honest I know nothing about formats, but I like Jetbook better and I'm glad I had the opportunity to try both readers I wish all ereaders were available to try somewhere offline

Bed Bath & Beyond has also sold vinyl record players which can also record to CD. This runs about the same price as the reader does. They are not only towels and linens.

BBBeyond wedding registries sort of chap my butt. Couples just go thru and pick scat that nobody ever needs. Whenever they register for 16 place settings of plain ugly white china at $40 per plate, well, seeing as how nobody is going to buy 15 place settings of plain ugly white china, well... I get them 1 plate. I know they will return it. I just enjoy the look on the faces as they are both surprised and confused.

After doing this a couple of times at work, word got around and the couples sort of expect it now. HOWEVER, at the last office shower, I was sick and busy and just gave them a check. I got to see the surprise and confusion again!

Actually, I used to have one of those on my desk. Well, a variation of one.

Picture it - the #1 engraved on a square metal tag, attached to a pull ring, that's attached to a quite realistic facsimile of a hand grenade, which sits on a base with an engraved plate on the front with the words "Take A Number." Quite effective.

It looks like many sellers sell 20% off BB&B coupons on eBay for $2

Ha ha, that's a riot! I regularly get those in the mail and regularly throw them away when I should be selling them on eBay!
